New G owner

Just picked up a new 2003.5 DP/Graphite/Winter/Sat/Auto. Especially like the manual mode--this car kicks a@#. I've been reading about how to keep the car clean and some recommendations from the tech forum on how to maintain the rims--had break dust just driving home from the dealership. Does anyone have more recent recommendations or a simple way to keep these rims clean??

The way I see it, you have two choices, change the brake pads or spend lots of time waxing and cleaning your rims.

Try a search. There's many posts on brake dust and aftermarket low dust brake pads.

There's a third option. Let the brake dust build up for two weeks, rotate the tires, then let it build up for two weeks on those rims. Then spray clearcoat over the rims. Now they'll permently have the brake-dust coloring, which goes quite nicely with the DP color, and hides any future brake dust.

Hehe. Seriously, just wax the rims. That keeps the dust from damaging them and makes them easier to clean. I let mine go for a couple weeks at a time, and since they're waxed, the dust comes off with plain water and a sponge.

Works with a light layer of dust on the car, too. "Umm.. it's supposed to look like that, really!"
