Another 03 brake question.......
Hey guys. I have never posted before but have read alot. I did a search but can not find my answer. I have a 03 G35 sedan with about 45,000 mile on it. I have had the breaks done 4 times already under the warranty and they need to be done a 5th time. The warranty is up so I am going aftermarket. Now I know alot of people are running hawk pads. But what my question is what pad is going to hold up after time.I was thinking just pads and rotors. I don't want to do a big brake upgrade because my wife is the one that drives it. I drive a Lexus GS300 with many mods. The people that have done this how are they holding up after lets say 25,000 miles? Like I said I did search And found lots of stuff what people are doing or just did. I need more of a ongoing prospective. I don't want to have to do this again for a long time. The noise and dust is terrible. Thank you for any help.

what i have done is kept my stock pads but have upgraded all 4 rotors. when you change your pads or get longer lasting pads, the material they use tends to be a harder compound, so the pad might last longer but they will be prone to make more noise and possibly more dust. i have drilled and slotted rotors and the dust is very minimal, this is with stock pads. i have also put around 35k miles on these pads and have about 20% left, but i also drive a manual sedan so i brake less due to down shifting. i have heard great things regarding hawk, so this will be my next choice.
Even though I have an 04 model, I think the brake issue is similar to 03. I changed my pads to Hawk with less 1K after I read the brake problem on this forum. I have 26K now and no issues with the brake whatsoever!. I bought the the Hawk pads from Tirerack. Don't get the semi-metallic one, they are hard on the rotors.

It sounds to me like your wife's driving habit might be the issue here. considering how many times you have changed out the brake, i don't think any pads will last for very long. My fronts lasted until 25K and I am not an easy driver. Does your wife ride the brakes?

I don't think its her. she drives like my grandma. I am the bad driver in the family.
She stops in a nice slow down pattern and I just ride up on the people in front of me and then hit my brakes. My brakes have been on for over 60,000 miles on my Lexus with no issues. They are about do to replace but that is another story. The reason they have been changed so much on the G is it was free. If they started to make a noise I took it in. Grubbs Infiniti is great about that. Ok it sounds like ya ll are pretty set on the hawk pads. I think that is what I will use. What type of hawk pads will be best for a daily with not really any mods. Just 18s and a k&n. She is not a race car driver ya know. Also what rotors will work best. I don't think she needs cross drilled or slotted rotors because like I said she drives like a grandma but I am always up for feedback.
Thank you guys for all your help.
