The VQ engine is a 2.0 L to 4.0 L V6 piston engine from Nissan. It is an aluminum DOHC 4-valve design. Later versions feature variable valve timing (g35 has this). This engine is widely considered to be the world's benchmark V6 engine for its combination of smoothness, reliability and high power output.
The new FZ has just been patented by Nissan on Jan 26, 2006. This FZ is rumored to be a 3.7L inline V-6 rated at 330+hp and will be used in the new M37, FX37, and G37.

Hey, im not saying its all true, these are the rumors around Nissan/Infiniti and from the US patent they filed. It may change, but the RUMOR is that this engine is supposed to put out equal or greater numbers than a V8 while being V6... Like it, believe it, or not, this is the RUMOR. Always count on Nissan to come through and break the mold.

There is no such thing as a INLINE V6. Its either an Inline 6 or a V6. It is the difference between the pattern that the cylinders are placed. V6 place the cylinders in a V pattern if u look at the whole engine vertically from the side. An Inline 6 just mean the 6 cylinders are placed straight up.
FZ will be a V6 and I can't imagine Nissan, Honda or Toyota going back to V6. V6 are trusted by Japanese manufacturers to be more compact than Inline 6 and maybe a little bit easier to sqeeuze out power but it might not be as smooth as Inline 6.

i was at the dealer about 2 weeks ago and they told me they are coming out with the coupe and the skyline...which to me doesnt really make sense to me because why sell 2 coupes???now i heard and read about the new g37 coupe we all seen the pictures i did hear about 330hp...i dunno if the motor is all new or a reworked VQ with variable valve timing on intake and exhaust direct injection and variable intake plenum...this is the next common setup on all motors coming out across the industry so it would only make sense that this is what nissan/infiniti is doing...the only thing that im wondering is if they are coming out with a new motor what exactly is going to be in the skyline...i know its a v6 and TT but is it the VQ or FZ???im just sitting here impatient and waiting for everything to break cover lol...

People got confused again, the G35 (coupe or sedan) we are driving right now is called the Skyline in Japan so we ARE DRIVING a skyline.
The supercar you talk about is called the GTR.
Now I think there is more chance of the the motor in the GTR being a VQ since it is a very mature engine to put a turbo on. Even if the TT is on a FZ, it wouldn't be displacing 3.7 litres + TT. At least I don't think Nissan will do so....
