Me: I have a question.
COunselor: What is it?
Me: my dad really wants me to go to nepal with him, what would i do about missing a month of school.
Councelor: Well, i can tell you this, you wouldent graduate.
Me: oh.
I left.
I asked my other teachers and they said the same thing. I jsut dont think it would work. Thats half a quarter! When would i make it up?

That is bull****!
With a counsulor and administration that blunt, you ought not to be attending.
My highschool would of let me go in a hearbeat...sending me updates every week. They did this with plenty of students.
A trip to Nepal is just as educational (IF NOT MORE) than a month of school. This is the crap colleges are looking for. If you dont want to go...fine, its a personal choice. I just dont know where this "counselor" is coming from.
"Sir, I want to go to Nepal for a month where I get to meet cultures long forgotten and get a chance to step on the base of mount everest!"
"Well, if you even attempt to become an individual, you will not only fail, but I will try using all the power I can muster to keep you from ever having a life again"
honestly, It is entirely up to you, but that teacher should not be working there (where do you live?)

If you do want to go ( I dont think you do ). Make sure all your teachers develop lesson plans for you to take. If that does not work, bring your father in and let him yell at the board.
Seriously tho, a college would rather see that you took up the trip to Nepal. As a matter of fact, you can discuss this with many top colleges. They will overlook your failure in class because of your trip to nepal ( I, myself, would consider that a succes in class; running away from a dimwitted school like that...you can even throw that in your college essay!)

You: I have a great opportunity to go to Nepal for free it will be very interesting, educational, and enlightening. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I will be doing X, Y, and Z, which will teach me valuable lessons.
Counselor: I totally agree.
