Argh!

So i just put on the coupe 18" set I got, and I keep scraping argh. The car is lowered with the eibach pro-kit, but the tire on the rear right keeps scraping and I'm afraid to try 4 ppl now. Anyone with the setup have any experience? I don't know what to do because I love the rims, but I am tempted to un-lower the car. Thoughts?

Have you rolled the fenders?

I haven't rolled the fenders - just put the tires on a cpl days ago. I'm not sure if when I goto the 235/45 all around it will help instead of the staggered 225/45 and 245/45. Isn't rolling bad though??

Thats the problem with the coupe rims, they are a 30 offset, so when you lower it, you risk the chance of rubbing. Depending on how much you are rubbing, the 235/45 may make a difference but I doubt it. Have never had the fenders rolled but I hear scary stories of the paint chipping after they get rolled. There is only one tool that I have seen to do it right.

If you still have your stock rims, put them back on the front and throw the 225/45 on the back to see if it still rubs.

Right I thought I could get by - it seems fine when I'm alone in the car - but when someone else is in the car ~200lbs it starts to scrap, and prob no chance in hell w 4 ppl. Right I think the 235 may help a little bit but not enuf. I am thinking unlower the back maybe and leave the front springs alone? Any thoughts on that? Also if I roll them correctly, is there any long term harm?

The coupe wheels are 18x8 +30 all around. Here are mine with 235/45/18 all around. Perfect fit without any problems.

That looks like mine - it seems that I only scrap on bad roads- so I guess I should just avoid - how about when you have 4 ppl in the car? TWould you think rolling the fender is ok if I goto someone who def can do it right that wont crack the paint? btw what springs / shocks do you have?

They fit perfectly flushed without any fender rolling and no rubbing with people in the back seats. I have the Eibach prokit and OEM shocks.

Crap - well i guess I will have to wait then 20k miles till these tires wear out to put on 235/45/18s. Is there any long term damage if I just forget about it till then? Or to be safe should I unlower the back and wait? Its like the very edge of the tire scraps - so maybe in a few thousand miles it wont since these tires are spanking brand new.

I would take them off and sell them. I have always believed in making the wheels fit the car, not the other way around.

Yea I think I found someone who has the 225/45 Pilots so I may see if I can trade tires and then all the problems should be gone since the tire will have plenty of extra room!

I really can't believe you guys make these sacrifices for what you would call "bling"...........

Not worth it. And know this. Most wheel upgrades will decrease both handling and acceleration times. Period. Some (ricers) will disagree, but the guys that have raced will know.

Think real hard before doing this.

What are you talking about? You consider 18" bling? ****...I run 18's as my winter set up and 20's in the summer. I'm neither a "ricer" who puts any ugly and cheap wheel on their car, nor a "racer" who's only reason for being is to get an extra 1/10 of a second. I think everyone on this board and their cousin's mother knows, larger = slower. But slower than who? Even with my 20's I'm faster than most people on the road and if I want to take it the track, I just slap my 18's back on and be done.

Your 20's probably slow you down more than you think. Do the math that's been posted on this board. It's a simple physics calc. I wouldn't get too cocky with that Civic with your 20's
