I think Audi projectors are made by Hella... but don't quote me on that, I'm not too sure. What makes each type of projector special is like I stated above, it's the lense itself...

BTW, if you are planning on doing a projector retrofit, look around on ebay. You can find TL projectors for like $250 shipped. Also, for the bulbs, an easy way I learned to remember which is which... D2Sh-ielded, D2R-eflector.

I looked on ebay they are going for $400+ with Shipping

This is what I have decided to do, I am getting DUAL PROJECTORS

TSX + TL

$375 for TL Projectors
$200 for TSX Projectors

$300 total in Labor

$875 TOTAL

You might need bezels too btw... unless the installer is going to provide those...
My bad on the prices. They are $300+ for the TL projectors. I was probably thinking TSX projector prices... the TL projectors I bought were just under $400 shipped from puwawa on ebay. I do remember seeing some going for about $100 less when I was looking before, but those are obviously gone now...

yeap..it is an expensive project...but, all worth it when you are done. as of now, i'm happy with the light output of my hid reflector from my g35. the projector would make it look cool and all..but, i rather spend that money on other mods.

This guy is pretty good, I recommend you guys check him out, he is cheap, but he does quality work and takes his time, tell him I sent you, and he will hook you up, he is in the process of doing my G35 Headlights and I paid him a little extra and he will get it done in a week, He sells on eBay and he has tons of his own projectors and equipment he will sell at cost if you get the work done with him, heres some work he has done

There's alot of correct but also incorrect information in this thread.

TSX = single xenon, goes for about $200 a pair
TL = bixenon, goes for about $300 a pair

Best single Xenon projector is S2000, or LS430. Best Bixenon projector is TL.

BUT...it doens't matter what's best if you can't fit it in the sedan low beam. There's very little space there for a projector.

Honda does NOT make projectors. All their projectors are made by Stanley/Kioto. Guess who makes the G35 2006 Coupe projectors...it's Stanley. So to knock all the S2000/TL/TSX projectors because they come from Hondas is crazy. No retrofitter would consider the Bosch projectors to be better than the Stanley ones.

I judge projectors based on brightness/sharpness/color at cutoff. In just about every category the best Stanley projectors are better than the best Bosch/Hella ones.

You guys aren't taking the cost of the extra ballasts and D2S bulbs into account either, if you're going with a quad projector setup. I would also recommend a wiring harness. And some custom diode work otherwise when you flip the high beam, the fog (or HID bulb on the bixenon) will turn off.

It took me three months to do a quad TL/TSX setup with wiring harness, custom shields, clear lenses, CCFL, cleared amber. The cost was about $1000 just in parts.

Ah... thanks for clearing that up, as you see I was still kinda guessing the manufacturer of the Acura projectors... since you seem to know quite a bit about projectors, who makes the Q45 projectors? And how do they compare to, say, the TL's... ok maybe not... how about compared to the E46 Bosch projectors? (I have a set sitting at home...) And I thought TSX and S2K projectors were the same output?

What do you mean? Just buy stolen ones like everyone else does. Hell that's how people must be getting these things, I don't know why else so many HIDs would get stolezd.

Use the hella bixenon projectors, much better and can be bot on ebay.
I have micro xenon hellas with their own housing and ballasts and they are the brightest of all. go to hella's website and check it out. they can be fitted easily in the bumper, but you would have to cut out holes and mount them. I had them on a corolla with my regular lights and they look cool
Most projectors used in cars these days all come from the same manufacturer.

Q45 projectors are German made, I don't know if it's Bosch or Hella or another company. They are single xenon.

Cutoff:
TL>Q45
Color
about the same stock, however modded TL>Q45 (haven't seen people mod the Q45)
Brightness
TL>Q45

The Q45 projectors look cool, and everyone goes gogogaga for them, but for the price and their large size, it'd be easier to go with something like TL or S2000 or LS430. Plus, you're never going to fit a Q45 projector in the low beam portion of the G35 sedan.

As for TSX vs S2000
Cutoff:
S2000>TSX
Color
S2000>TSX
Brightness
S2000>>TSX
Price
S2000>TSX by about $100 on average

Quad projectors are about 4x as complicated when it comes to aiming compared to just a standard low beam projector retrofit. All 4 have to be level rotation wise. You'll probably also want the Z pattern to be in line with each other, rather than random. The distance between the top beams and the bottom beam has to be consistant. I spent 2 weeks trying to aim all the projectors in my living room, but after I installed them, I still had to open up one side to readjust the lower projector. If the beams are all slightly off and random with respect to each other, the beam pattern will look horrible.

There are a few other guys with coupes with quad projectors, but I haven't seen pics of their beam pattern. Here's mine: not perfect, but about 95% of what I was going for. TSX with custom shield to get a slightly sharper cutoff, TLs with clear lenses. The beams aren't super sharp like they were in my living room during the testing stages due to the headlight lens and the 3M headlight protectors that I'm using, but I'll still see the cutoff hundreds of feet in front of me on the freeways. The car is in front of the ditch, so the beam is not that tall on the road.

That cutoff above is still 10x better than the free-form units. I went from E46 projectors on my bmw to this, although light output to the ground is actually better, the cutoff isn't sharp and the beam pattern is blotchy.

Decided to do it myself. Just got a set of S2000 headlights and will do the mod soon.

Are S2K projectors single or bi-xenon?
