Y-Pipe w/ Coupe Midpipe

Are the tubing diameter on an aftermarket Y-Pipe(Fuji, Megan, etc.) different that the coupe midpipe? If yes, is it OK to still slap them together or modification is required?

I thought some folks stated there was a slight difference but nothing the doughnut did not solve as far as leaks go.
