Invoice price inflated?

Hi, Maybe a dumb question. But, I was wondering if invoice prices can be inflated by dealers. I made a deal for 500 over invoice on the new 04 sedan . How do i make sure the dealer is not playing with that figure , He said he would provide the invoice that comes with the car , but I am curious to know if they can actually get it inflated. Advice, suggestions are welcome . Also, if the guys/gals who are buying the 04 or have already bought it can give me your breakdown in price with options it would be super. I have ordered a DG, 5sp AT, premium (full spare) and Nav with the splash guards. Thanks for your help

www.autobytel.com or www.edmunds.com will give you the true invoice prices, down to every last option. Use them well.

I usually get the dealer to agree that he MSRP prices I have are accurate, then read them my Invoice prices so they know I'm not fooling around. Don't rely on #s they give you- rely on the ones you know. The only car I have ever seen the invoice #s inflated on was a '03 330xi in Nashville. The dealer actually GAVE me his "invoice" sheet, and all of the prices were precisely 50% above what I had. I pointed out this fact, and he quickly retreated, saying it was a mistake on his part-- that wasn't the right sheet, etc. I just walked out of the dealership as he continued to try and explain.

Re: Invoice price inflated?

You can't really make sure. I used to sell Nissans and I've pulled out invoices to show customers. Even I don't completely believe that they're all accurate. All I can say is go to a dealership that is well-respected and thought to be reputable and see for yourself if you believe them when the bring out the invoice. I can tell you this- Nissans are not cheap for the dealer to buy, as they aren't very marked up. Infiniti is about $5K more in mark-up than a comparable Nissan. Hope that helps a little.
