I did exactly that in 03. Bought a 6MT G35 sedan with only sunroof, bose, and winter packages to replace my 5 speed 95 Maxima. Had to order the car to get it that way. The G35 is the car that maxima always wanted to be, but never could be because of it's drivetrain layout and pedestrian suspension. I liked the max, but for an enthusiast driver, the G is far superior everywhere it counts.

Max convert here also. I still love the max to this day. The g seems to be a better/polished form of the max.

I was thinking about ordering but the local dealer is just not giving any good deals. I also wonder if the 07 will be that much better and don't wan't buyer's remorse. I figure, if the 07 is worth getting, I will probably be paying list price anyways so don't mind ordering.

The sunroof cuts almost 2" of headroom and I keep hearing bad things about the bose. Meanwhile, my 1995 Max is still going strong--just not as refined as it used to be.

I went from a 97 Maxima SE (with lots of mods) to a 350Z and then the G35 sedan.

When I bought the Z I kept the Maxima for a while, and after a minor accident and hailstorm I sold the Max. After I sold the Max, I regreted not having something more sedan-like. I loved the Z, but it was just not an everyday car for me. I found the G sedan as the perfect compromise between the Max (FWD=boo) and the Z (2 seats=blah).

So far so good with the new car. However, I hear a strange sound when I first start driving the car after it has been sitting for about 10 or 15 minutes. It sounds like a spring uncoiling and it only happens once when you begin driving. I have the sport tuned suspension so I figured it was just the springs settling, but it keeps making that sound after 4 days and 300 hundred miles. Has anyone else experienced this?

That said, I still pretty excited about the way this car drives. I miss the drop from the H&R springs that were on the Maxima though. Since I'm still breaking it in, I haven't really gotten on it yet. Is the normal break-in about 1000 miles?

I won't change much at first, but I will add the PAC audio device for my MP3 player and change to synthetic oil. A friend of mine warned me not to change to synthetic too quickly due to the fact that the piston rings (??) need to set with the original regular oil. He said to wait until it's time to change the oil at the regularly scheduled first oil change.

Glad it's going well.

The "sproing" sound is your ABS running a check or something. #1 question for new owners. Mine's still doing it at 2600 mi.

In regards to the oil and break in period... I'm sure someone will tell you to search. People are on both sides of the fence for both.
In regards to break in... I was easy on her. I think I redlined only once in the first 1k mi. I would take her up to 4k ~ 5k rps once a day after 500 mi. I've had no problems. I think all agree that you should not hold it at or near redline, or at any RPM for that matter, while you're breaking her in.
In regards to oil... I'd hold off on synthetic. It's just not needed when the car is so new. The better thing would be to change the oil at like 750 to 1k mi to get rid of any particles during the break in.

Disclaimer: Someone will prob counter everything I've said, so read up & make an informed decision.

Welcome and congrats on your fine looking G35. My 05 looks exactly the same except it's a 6mt. Some of the premium stuff is pretty cool but as a whole, it's not worth it IMO. I'm mainly interested in the performance and options that would enhance that.

I enjoy my Premium package, but I bought used. I don't know what all has changed from the 03 Premium package to the 06 Premium package, but I really do like most of the Premium options. The ones I use the most are auto in/out driver's seat, Homelink, auto up/down windows all around, moonroof, and obviously the Bose. My wife use the dual zone climate control because she's always cold and the reclining rear seats work good for my son's child seat. It also makes accessing the rear strut bolts an absolute breeze.

Thanks for clearing up noise issue, I probably should have searched for that better.
