Tire Help!

I have a 2003 Sedan with the sport 17" wheels and to OE Goodyear Eagle RS-A's at I believe 215/55/17. Its about time to get new tires and I was looking for suggestions on a performance all season. I actually like the RS-A's a lot but was looking for something cheaper. I'm also interested if there are anyone has had good results running other tire sizes on this wheel (if so, please specify size). I have tried searching with no luck. Thanks for your help!

I just put a set of Yokohama Avid V4's (60K tires) on my car 3 weeks ago from the TireRack.com .

So far.. there are everybit as good as the OE Bridstones... and are actually better if you consider they're going to last twice as long and are definately quieter.

I think after I included shipping they were $118 a tire.

If I would of had some more money at the time... ... I would probably have bought a set of the GoodYear Assurance Triple treads (90K tirs for $140 ish)... from what I've read.. they perform like sport tires but wear like Iron.

Goodluck.

tires

An optional size is 235/50/17.
I have a few suggestions depending on price and preformance. The Goodyear you currently have is a V rated tire which would by most accosnts qualify it as ultra high preformance tire. However, if you look on tirerack.com it falls under high preformance which is usually up to an H speed rating.
If you want an ultra hp tire that wont kill your wallet try the Avon Tech M550 A/S. If price is not a concern then the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or Bridgestone RE 960AS Pole Position are good choices but are over $190 a tire. The Falken Zeix 512 is close to the Avon in price but does not handle as well and is noiser. If you are not concerned with milage out of a tire the Toyo Proxes 4 in 235/50/17 which is a Z rated tire is the way to go. It will out handle any tire I have mentioned but they will need replaced afte 20k.
I have the Avon's and really like them They are quiet, ride well, and have tremendous handling even in water. I got the car with 20k miles and it had RSA's. I put Pilot Sports AS on the car and at 45k they had to be replaced. The Avon is as good except it has a little softer side wall so the handling is not as quick but it rides better and quiter. Don't get me wrong the Avon offers fantistic handling and on the road you will never notice a difference. I have had my on a track with both tires and that is where I noticed a difference.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help.

I'm on a budget, but don't want a junk tire. I really want to do no less than maintain, if not better, the performance and treadlife of the RS-A's for less money if possible.

For those that have gone to 235/50/17's is it worth it?

Thanks

Thumbs up Ditto on the V4s, awesome tires

I just put on Yokohama Avid V4s a month ago. I have put on 3000 miles. They are definately better than the RS-As I had on before. Even though I'm in Vegas I had a chance to take them in a few inches of snow last week in the mountains just outside town. They did better than I expected and I hope to get some great mileage from them. They are quieter and handle awesome at speed. I paid 106.00 plus shipping and them mounted at discount tire. Good luck, I looked around for a while and chose these...no regrets so far.

I recommend the Avon M550 A/S. It is reviewed well and I know a guy who put them on a coupe and was pleased with their performance.
