Thanks for the info Rumble. Have you had any problems with the lower valances getting chipped from rocks, bugs, etc? I asked the dealer why they didn't paint them as part of the normal build of the car and they told me it was because they are so close to the ground and get dinged/chipped/etc. Sounds kinda like BS to me, but figured I'd ask you before I get mine done. I looked at your car pics and it definitely adds a level of class to the car.

 

I don't have any chips or scratches. My girl drags her shoes out of the car sometimes hitting the sprayed sides and it still looks like when it first got painted. As long as you find a good bodyshop that will do a prestine job, you'll be fine. My car is also lowered so parking further away from curbs help as well. [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Picked up a magazine at the supermarket this morning, can't remember the name but it had a yellow NSX on the cover, and one of the articles was about body kits. I picked it up to see just what sort of fugly is in fashion right now.

To my surprise there was an article on body kits being created for both the Gs and Gc. I think it was a write-up on how Stillen goes about fabricating their body kits. I didn't have time to read it all but I'd be interested in the pricing.

Wait...I think it was Modified magazine... or something close to that.

i just gave a bodyshop a call to find out how much this would cost. one of the questions that came up was, whether or not the lower valences could be removed. does anyone know for sure if they can be removed from the rest of the car?

 

The way I look at it, painting the black pieces is an upgrade I will make if I ever need to get portions of the car painted due to damage or accident. In other words, I hope to never have it done...but if I have some damage, this will be my consolation for having it fixed!

The car really does look better without that black on the bottom. Especially if you have a dirt-friendly color like DP, as I do

I know for sure the sides can be removed. I had mine painted. My body shop chose not to remove the front and rear when they painted it. It looks great.

 

Audi does it too on the new cars. I don't mind since my car's black.

Can't stand the black pieces too. Please advise. Can someone post their cars with the painted painted black strips?

 

I can't see why everyone is dissapointed by this. when you drive home tonight, take notice of how many other car have the same thing on their bottom panels. It's not like Nissan cheaped out here, it's just standard operating proceedure.

Once you paint them I think you will be dissapointed at how dirty they will look. Both my G and my SHO have painted bottom effects. It's just one more thing to try to keep clean.

sho,
for me, i just doesn't look right. when i look at my car from afar, it drives me nuts how awkward it looks when it's 2 tone. then i imagine how much more attractive it will be when it's one uniform color like the porsche or the 350z that i park next to. i agree i will have to worry about chips and getting it dirty, but i think that's a sacrafice i'm willing to make.

 

I have pics and will post them shortly. My sedan is silver and I paid $300 to have my lowers painted.
