MRC, what does the UTEC look like to an Infiniti dealer that is running diagnostics on the G? Will the UTEC throw questionable codes and perhaps cause a dealership to mis-diagnose an engine issue? I live in Florida, If I buy a UTEC what options do I have to have the unit and engine properly tuned? Thanks.

The UTEC is undetectable via OBDII scan..However it unplugs in a snap and the dealer will never know it was there. No cutting and splicing wires with a UTEC...As far as tuners, any one who has tuned cars before can figure it out by reading the manual..It is very easy.

Quote: Maybe you can answer something for me. What is the difference between UTEC and something like UniChip? What added functionality does the UTEC provide.

Sorry if this has been answered by others. Your results with a N/A car intrigue me. Thanks for letting us know.
+1 . . . What are the differences?

The UTEC unlike the Unichip controls absolute timing not a + or - offset of stock timing. This offers a more consistant and safe tune. The UTEC also has many features the Uni-Chip does not, such as overboost fuel cut,rev limit control, knock retard and tempature compensations...

There are more features that make it superior but those are a few..Feel free to read up on www.turboxs.com.
Bob's car picked up nice HP since all his mods were leaning him out to the point of almost detonating. The 04 G35 sedan I believe came with 260 CHP.Now if you account for an 18% driveline loss from having an automatic, that is about 215 WHP. So for him to tweak 255 WHP he is making near 300CHP. The car felt VERY strong throughout the RPM range and was like a beast was unleashed!!

Quote: Hey everybody that dyno was my car. Sorry I didn't get a chance to post sooner (works always getting in the way). Anyway not only did I gain almost 20hp and more tq down low but the car runs so much better (smoother) when I really stomp on it. I noticed the more mods I added the rougher my engine sounded at high rpm but the utec and tune cured all of that. Jules at MRC did a really great job and took his time getting everything right.

4fun, now that you have driven with the UTEC for a few weeks, how is your G running? Is it still as strong as the day you had it tuned? Any complaints or more praise at this point? Thanks for the info.

I cant even begin to get into it, the subject has been beaten like a dead horse on all of the VQ forums for over 9 months now.
Some major things, absolute timing, plug and play, and knock retard.

So is this a UTEC specifically made for G35s? Or is it one for the 350Z? How is it hooked up? Does it work on 05 6MTs? I've been looking for a better way to tune than just an APEXi controller, but I heard the UTEC doesn't work or fit on G35s???
