I am considering the 07 but I like being able to turn at high speeds and love the feeling of a good feedback handling steering wheel, but we also have snow here, so what is the major difference, Does AWD Help in racing, or is RWD the best way to go for handling and racing?

If Infiniti had a dedicated AWD system like the one the GT-R will likely use or Audi's Quattro then it'd be a solid bet for all of the above. As of right now, it's not though. ATESSA-ETS or whatever it's called is better for winter but the Sport version will be better for handling/racing. As for me, if I were to get it (I live in the NY metro area), I'd get the G35 sport because you have three seasons of fun and 1 season of suck.

The G35 Sport with handle better than a stock G35X. I live in Michigan and have snow tires for my G35 Coupe, and it's fine. Like the other person said... 3 seasons of fun with summer tires and 1 season of winter tires. Although, snow donuts are much easier with RWD and those are a riot!! I always look forward to the first snowfall for that reason.

Now, if they offered AWD with the 6MT and sport tuned suspension, we'd have a different story!

awd is better for handling. The X scores better times at AutoX etc...

The only let down of the X is gas milege

AWD will have better handling but it will be slower due to more drivetrain loss. I have driven my friends S4 with similar power lots of times and I think my car is way more fun.

G35X slower?? not really, ran a 14.7 at 95.96 in my 05X last tuesday. an auto G35 RWD will not be much faster, maybe a 14.5. A M6 G35 can do low 14's if driven properly, but most dont pull it off.

well, I agree that the X should be faster on the track, since they can put down usuable power, i.e. when you exit a curve, even if you have VLSD, the difference in wheel spins betweeen the rear left and right are going to slow you down.. yet, the X system will allow you to floor it without a problem.

With regards to drag racing, the X should provide better launching while the RWD should catch up and do better at the end. Yet, the difference in time is very small, which is around .2 ~ .6 depending on drivetrain and driver

If you're buyin a G to race it, gas mileage isn't a concern. I have an 05X, which I bought cause I live in MA. If I lived in say, FL or something, I would have gotten the G35 sport, but I digress. Anyways, I agree stl_ls1gto, there shouldn't be a noticeable perforamce difference between the x or sport. I put Stillen intake, z-tube, Stillen gen 2 exhaust, and it hauls. I get that VDC light pop on in the dash from time to time Either way, its blast to drive, RWD or AWD.

Th G35X doesn't have sport tuned suspension, so I really doubt it will be better at the race track. Obivously AWD has more potential than RWD, but without the sport tuned suspension, I doubt it's better in stock form.

my g35x kicks *** in that respect. You can turn the AWD off if you are smart enough! My slip light goes off plenty :-D Stillen intake + 10 wire

Sport>G35X>RWD Non-Sport is the suspension pecking order.

AWD, driven properly, gives a tremendous advantage on the track. See the videos (in sig) of v8's, v8 turbos, and v-10's eaten up by a stock-suspension G35X.

14.50 at the strip with a z-tube and K&N is nothing to sneeze at either.

the difference between the non-sport and sport suspension?
