Re: Gas mileage?

Writing down mileage and calculating mpg is innacurate for a single tank. If you keep a running average (I have for 6000 miles), then the single errors average out and your overall average is very, very accurate.

Re: Gas mileage?

Glad you take nerd-dom to a new level I make spreadsheets for just about everything in my life, but for this I just use the Nav's system. Seems pretty accurate so far, and I like seeing the instant readout graphically (the leaf), which responds in real-time.

After I'd broken in the car, I reset it and drove conservatively and got excellent mileage. I then reset it again and drove with a little more agressive foot... and again. I seem to have found where performance and fun meet wallet

Re: Gas mileage?

Geo, that's pretty nerd-like. I do it the old fashion way and do and average of three tanks to reduce any filling error. I get about 21 in the city and commute and 24 to 25 on the highway on long trips. It is a six speed and I use 91 octane. Mobil one in the crankcase. Have just over 12K on it. I also have not worn the brakes out yet either.

G35/S/MT....this car rocks!

Re: Gas mileage?

My historic graph is not popluated at all! What's up with that? almost 1k miles and no history?

I am averaging 18.6 on 91 octane and drive about 95% fwy averaging around 80mph.

Re: Gas mileage?

You have to "reset" it, have you been doing so? Only when it is reset does it register on the history graph. Doing an ECU reset does NOT erase thism btw.

Re: Gas mileage?

I was averaging 20-21 MPG. I recently hit 2,000 miles and I just averaged 25.1. I do a fair amount of highway driving, but I also get stuck in stop and go traffic. I usually shift around 3500, but I also get on it when I need (or want) to.

Re: Gas mileage?

So if I always go to the same gas station then I should be able to do it the old fashion way ... my guess is mid to high teens... my last car got 21 and this car definitely uses way more gas. But I guess like someone else said I bought it for fun not for gas mileage... if I wanted mileage I would have bought a Honda or Toyata hybrid.. yuck I can imagine they bring new meaning to the word slug

Re: Gas mileage?

I just did 3 tanks in mine and kept track of the miles... my mpg in a mix of city/highway mostly no traffic is 18.5 mpg. The highway is mostly at 80mph so that's not too bad... 4mpg worse than my Dodge Intrepid with the same highway speed.

I wonder if bad gas mileage along with price will make the Maxima a tough sell for Nissan?

Re: Gas mileage?

Just finished a weekend adventure. Drove from Houston, Texas to
Austin on Friday evening. Filled up in Columbus, small town that
sells un-reformulated gasoline. Drove up to Round Rock Texas
on Saturday Morning to attend the Austin 350Z Nissan show.
I met mbarrad and had a great time. Drove back and filled up
at the same station in Columbus, my gas mileage was 23.1 mpg.
Now... I did not drive my usual way. I drove mostly with cruise
control on within the speed limit, 70-80 mph. This was the best
mileage I have recorded to date. Normally get between 15 -17
in my city driving.
