Just got my GT-8 - First Impressions
there are many cars with CVT transmissions in the US. I dont understand how it would have 8 speeds though - given that the purpose of the CVT transmission is that it is continously variable, ie when you floor the accelerator, the engine just revs the point of makeing the most power and stays there at the same engine speed as the CVT changes the gear ratios using a belt/pulley like system. The orginal cvt's couldnt handle large engines (too much torque) The one on the 3.5L in the Nissan Murano was the largest torque cvt that was made I believe - at least that I know of. I know that in some cvt's they put a manumatic function on them for people to get a sense of "shifting" - but this actually makes the car slower as the engine does not stay in the zone where it makes the most power.

Nissan's CVT's handle more power than any other manufacturer's. The G is proabably the highest powered VCT application out there right now. Wondering what that is like to drive. Being used to tranny shifts is like being used to internal combustion.

Guys,
In Perth Western Australia.
Took some pics yesterday - will put them up later.
It doesnt have that much to differentiate it from a normal 350GT 4 door - not even GT-8 badging. Will rectify that.
The 8 "speeds" are just steps in the CVT. Best thing is it loads up the converter on the change so you get a nice little rush. Much like a shift kitted Lightning I used to have. CVT makes it a bit doughy down low - a good drift car it isnt.
Very much looking forward to taking it down the 1420.

Foo - We dont get many in Perth - but the North of Western Australia - and the Northern Territory get pounded quite regularly. WA has had a couple of category 4 Cyclones recently - and a Cat 5 is currently bearing down on Darwin in the NT.
Have attached a pic of the GT8 and my Coupe - both Silver - its a bit twee isnt it?
