05/06 Sedan Mid pipe

Does the 05/06 Sedan mid pipe fit fine for a 03.5 Sedan? If so please chime in sedan owners. Also, if you have dyno charts, please feel free to post, or does it even make any difference?

The reason I ask is I am looking at doing the MREV+ soon and the mid pipes on the 05/06 models have better flow, or not as restrictive as the 03 models. Thank you for the input. (edited 29 apr 06)

I thought the only thing that is different between the two are the mid-pipes and rear-section?

I'm not sure either, that's why I was asking. Reading motordyne's info, the way infiniti was able to achieve 298 HP on the MT sedan and coupe for 06 was in part by adding less restrictive parts such as the exhaust for the sedan and a more free flowing mid pipe. Hopefully someone on here can verify that.

Could you please do a cut and paste quote from what you read? I've never heard or read anything about the exhaust being different other then the sedan mid pipe changes and how IIRC the rear section uses one less hanger mount.

Here's the quote from Hydrazyne, not Skyline_35. Hydrazyne used his quote to answer his question. This is located at the following link https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-exhaust/92810-mrev-installed-non-revup-engine.html

For manuals only:

03.5 Sedan 260 hp
03.5 Coupe 280 hp
04. Sedan 280 hp
04. Coupe 280 hp
05. Sedan 298 hp
05. Coupe 298 hp

and if they all use the MRev, then they will all make the same hp? or is it that they will all gain the same amount of hp and be respectively different?

I don't know about the 2003 Sedan but I know the 2004 Sedans basically dyno the same as the Coups.

The only difference is the Sedan exhaust is only a little more restrictive.

But the 2005 and 2006 REVUP engines clearly dyno diferently from the non REVUP engines. The exhaust on the 2005 and 2006 Sedan also flows a little better than the previous generations. They have a better midpipe.

Bolded is the part I read, it's on the thread for the MREV+

The 05+ 6MT has a different intake manifold and variable timing on the exhaust cam. That's basically how the "rev up" 05 6MT attained 298hp.

All 05+ sedans have revised midpipes and slightly longer (or was it shorter?) mufflers. The change in midpipe design was purely for tone. I don't think there's any real power gain from adding an 05+ sedan midpipe or the 03+ coupe midpipe. The jump from 260hp to 280hp in the 05+ 5ATs appears to be mostly a marketing tool because the prior 260hp G35 sedan were actually making ~275hp, not 260hp.

So, to see if i can answer my question, you're saying there's really no gain or purpose for that matter, to switch an 03 midpipe with an 05+ right?

Yes. Better sound. No power gain.

The 03 midpipe resonator is huge. You would shave about 25 pounds switching to a coupe midpipe
