I did 35 on the front sides and 20 on the rear around. Even though 35 is the limit in my state, I've never had any problem. The front windows being lighter is the key, the cops don't freak out because they can see inside at 35 when they approach. Tint that is 20 and less is tougher to see into and get's them on edge. My input, get good quality tint that doesnt' turn purple due to cheap dye.

 

50 percent is more for the front winshield..

i did 35 percent on sides..and 28 in rear..

 

On a Truck or SUV you can go as dark as you want on the rear sides and back window. This really doesn't make sense to me since you have more room in a truck or SUV.

 

I have 50% and it's perfect. If you want to reject heat, then forget metallic tints and go ceramic like I did. I have the Huper Optik Ceramic 50 in Gray. It's more money, but it offers double the heat rejection vs. metallics, and the UV protection does not degrade over time vs. metallics. Also, it won't intefere with the radar detector.

As far as dark tints go, I don't like the look (too 80's for me) and not as safe as it obstructs outward visbility especially at night.

 

i thought there was no limit to tinting rear windows for california....
as for the fronts, 70% allowed if you got a doctor's note (aka special circumstances)....

one window tint website has a pdf of state tint laws....sorry, forgot which....

 

that's correct, no limit in the rear for CA (that's what i posted above). you can black them out to 0 if you wanted to.

the front varies. my understanding is that with a doctor's note it can be as dark as your note approves, if you have a skin condition, for example.

 

the front is actually I think like 80% or something that high in the front..and the rears..can be as dark as u want it..

too me..tats ridiculous...the limit on the fronts should be 35%..not too dark..or at least 50%

 

It's 70% up front and anything for the rest provided you have side mirrors, read it on the CHP site. I just called up my tint shop and confirmed they had 50% tint. I'll post some pics after getting it done on saturday.

yup... i got 50% front and 15% rear. its not worth the hassel. plus you dont wanna give the cop anymore reasons to pull you over (no front license etc etc)

 

Also remember interior color has a quite an impact on how dark your tint will look. I have wheat with 35% and my friend has black with 35% and it looks much darker.

 

I have 50% front, 35% rear and sides, never got hassled by the cops yet.
