Spicewood Springs on Friday

I played around with a nice looking sedan on Spicewood Springs yesterday. Was it anyone here?

I was in a black 06 6mt coupe. We dropped back from traffic and had a few runs, passed a slow car and then raced uphill.

if it was you reply.. have some questions!

To answer your questions, the sedan weighs less, thats why it is faster

Cool

lol

he almost kept up, i assume it was modded. The sedan is NOT faster, sorry. Of course, I dunno if he was AT or MT, that's one of my questions.

The other has to do with some mud we ran over at about 80mph while turning on a narrow twisty road....

Technicaly speaking the MT6 sedan does have a 100 lb weight advantage of the heavier MT6 coupe, so if both drivers had the same skill the sedan should edge out the coupe, technicaly speaking of course

Remember the sedan and coupe have the same engine and same transmisison but the sedan is lighter... Although I will say the coupe is more sexy looking

you don't think factors like suspension, exhaust, tires, weight balance, etc make any difference to offset the weight difference?

and for the record, i was running on a nearly empty tank.. that prolly helped me.

Depends to on which sedan you were racing the automatics only have the 280 hp vs the 298 for the 6mt if I remember right...

I think suspension and tires would play a bigger role if you were racing from a stop, where you would probably get a little better traction, but this depends on stock vs stock or modified vs stock, etc.... In my experience its always been a drivers race between the two if there both 6MT.

BTW, i found the #'s for different weights

06' G35 Coupe MT6 - 3524 lbs
06' G35 Sedan MT6 - 3472 lbs

06' G35 Coupe Base - 3505 lbs
06' G35 Sedan Base - 3449 lbs

So it ends up only being about 50lbs between the two cars on average....

Stock from the factory, the 6MT coupe and sedan have the same power ratings. Exhaust isn't going to matter. The weight balance is basically the same. Suspension is a little stiffer in the coupe, so that would help in the turns, as would bigger tires. But the bigger tires/heavier wheel combo would actually hurt acceleration.

In a straight line, the sedan is slightly faster, like it or not. In the severe twisties, the coupe should be able to go a little faster with more rubber under the car, and stiffer suspension.

Of course, that's stock.

G-Dub you sure that was you? Yeah I remember there were 3 lanes on spicewood up the hill but on the twisties... two lanes, one way each.

That pass on the mr slow poke and then running into dried mud on the road at like 80-90mph... my VDC was off but I hit the brake and let it save me... I was trying to gain on you so maybe u were not going as fast but damn that was some scary sh*t

you did that w/ your mom in the car? I'm pretty sure I would not have done that with anyone else in the car

and yeah, i thought i heard your rev-limiter near the top of the hill...?
