If the car is new, it may take a few tanks to get decent mpgs. I suppose the type of gas you are putting in may have an effect. Sitting in traffic for long periods of time also sucks gas. I always get 16-17 mpg driving city only miles with lots of heavy acceleration using premium. I just love the sounds of gunning it in first gear! I think the exhaust sound has improved over time.

I get around 280 miles when the gas light comes on. I do mostly local and some highway. I usually gauge if I'm getting good gas mileage if I get at least 150 miles at half tank reading. I drive the car pretty hard and cruise occasionally...lead foot. I have an 05 x model btw.

I did very little to almost no highway driving when I first got my 06 and got 9mpg on the first tank.

Also I think the car has a 4 gallon reserve, so that means you getting more like 15mpg..unless the navi is giving you that value..

My average is about 19MPG city. The best I've seen is 28 - averaged over 3000 miles at between 68 - 75 MPH.

This is measured at the pump with basic math - not by a computer. It's the only way to be sure.

The killer for me is the freeway. I do about a 100 mph, and my RPMs are at about 4 thousand at that speed. Just drinks gas.

Nissan needs to implement a 6 speed auto.

Did you actually check how many gallons it took to fill it up? 242 miles is very low for a tank, but if it only to 16 gallons to fill it is more like 15 MPG (Which still isn't very good.).

I have been to the point where I was sure I was going to run out of gas and I took just 19 gallons. I usually get around 19-20 MPG with mostly city driving and very short trips.

Nissan needs to put a real overdirve gear in the 6MT!!!! a .50 would do wonders for highway gas mileage!!!!

i'm getting around 245-255 to a full tank of gas until my gas light comes on. I have a 6mt, 32,600 miles now and it's all city driving, no highway at all. All i have so far is the injen CAI and I just installed that last saturday. I bought the car new in 03. Don't get that good mileage unless i'm on the highway.

I average 100 miles per quarter tank. So my goal at half is to be at 200 miles. I use the calculator on my cell phone at the gas station and with 70% stop and go highway traffic, I average 22.5 in my 05 6MT sedan.
