2004 G35 Sedan with 38k miles... dealer says it needs rotors already?!

Is there a TSB on this? Isn't this a known issue with the sedan and coupe? Buddies car is JUST out of warranty and now the dealer tells him it's needed.

Any help would be appreciated.

No TSB that I'm aware of. Brakes on the pre-2005s are a very well known and well documented issue. From all the things I've read here, 38K is actually above average.

Warranty covereage was extended through 3/36. Sounds like he's on his own.

I don't feel that 38k is unreasonble for sedan with 250+ hp weighing over 3500 lbs.

Actually there is a TSB out there for it.

A TSB? I don't remember that. But there is a 3/36 warranty extension as the poster above mentioned.

If your "friend" bought this G used, I'm betting this is the second set of rotors, my '04 had both front pads and rotors replaced at 15k!

Enlighten us please - what does it say? The only one I can find addresses brake noise (front brakes) while going in reverse. Nothing about wear.

All the TSBs are listed for viewing over at infinitihelp.com. Here's a link. I couldn't find anything specific to brake wear like you describe.

Brake wear on the 03 and 04 G's is a known issue and that's why the 36K mile warranty includes the brakes and rotors. If your friend's car has gone 38K without needing the pads and rotors replaced then they are damn lucky. Buy some good aftermarket ones that won't wear so much and be done with it.

Wow, broken 3 forum policy rules so far in this post Big Slash. Attacking Trey's wife on a continous basis is not a smart thing to do. You have done it on many posts of yours. I suggest you stop immediately.

Btw, the TSB use to be available. I had one printed for the dealer at one time 2 years ago. But now they actually have a warranty 3/36k on the brakes they decided to remove it so it seems.

For some reason, many people seem to confuse a TSB with a warrenty action. `Taint so! I have seen TSB`s issued merely to correct a paragraph number or a page number. If the TSB has warrenty implications, it will say so, but most do not.

This was a actual TSB released before it got so bad that Nissan had to make it a warranty coverage. I had the actual TSB in my hands when I went to the dealer the first time.

Maybe it's time for a moderator to intervene here, this is getting out of hand. What's your problem Sash? Knock it off.
