ofcourse you should!

it is a significant change from the 06, its going to look mean on the streets and if he's going to keep it for five years why drive a car thats body will be outdated in a year. if he gets the new model in its first year he will enjoy the entire generation of that body style instead of regretting purchasing the old body style...imo
Well, I'm an enthusiast, and I plan on keeping my '05, and still like the current design, for now anyway, LOL, so..........everytime I see a G35 I am glad I'm driving the same car! I think the '07 is nice too, but I still like my version very well, I wouldn't try and sway him one way or another, it's his choice, but I'm fine with the current G for now, I've had it one year, and it still feels new to me! I don't regret having the "old" body style!

The new coupe isn't expected until Spring/Summer 2007 unless they released an update that I've yet to read.

If you can afford the 07 at MSRP, then wait. If not, wait a little more for 07's to arrive and then save big on the remaining 06's. The general public is NOT aware that the 07 is a re-design. My local dealer is not even cutting good deals yet!

'07, even though I don't really care for the looks of it that much the upgraded engine, interior, etc... is going to make the first generation g35 completely obsolete.

No big deal, everytime you own a car, no matter what the nameplate is, it gets replaced by a newer model, doesn't necessarily become obsolete, I think this style will stay attractive, it was evolved from the first G35 afterall.

Thanks for all the input, guys!

So it seems that the overall opinion is to get an 07..though I'm still not entirely convinced I supose I'll just have to wait and reserve my judgment until I see/drive the car in person. I just drove my neighbor's 03 G sedan, which was amazing......compared to my current car, anyway :P (Acura Legend). It's just difficult to let a good deal slide by, you know? Hopefully they'll have a preview sample 07G at the dealer like they did with the coupe before it was on sale. But if we're going to wait another four months for the Gsedan to come out..wouldn't it be better just to wait for the 07/08 coupe? Unless of course, that doesn't come out for another six months after the sedan. Perhaps if it was only three or four months....otherwise the wait (which is bad enough) would be unbearable.

Another possibility, would be to pick up a heavily discounted 06 sedan, and get a hybrid lexus or g coupe or something in 2-3 years (and hopefully pass the G down to me

Again, thanks for all the help, more opinions are always appreciated.

Personally, I would wait for the '08 model (better prices, first-year problems corrected, a bunch of reviews/personal opinions available), but since your dad can't wait, go the '07. Just keep track of the TSBs. If the new G35 follows the 2006 M, it should be a very good vehicle.

Good Luck.

You and me both! I put down a deposit as well. I don't think we will have any problems liking the 07 when we get it!
