1. Size...it definitely feels very cramped inside (in the front and the back). Similar cramped feeling I had when I originally test-drove the Acura TL (my mother-in-law has a TL and every time I get in it, I feel cramped; there's just not as much room inside as the G35, FX, or M).
2. Old logic in the ManuMatic shifting (unless they changed it for '07)...in ManuMatic mode, it shifts like the old G35 Sedan (until '04.5) did, where it will not downshift for you automatically all the way down to 1st gear, so you can always start out shifting manually from 1st gear. It stays in the last gear (that's displayed), and it will shift in Auto mode until it hits that gear you had it in. Only then will it allow you to shift manually. So if you don't downshift manually to 1st gear (say you downshift to 3rd) when coming to a stop, the IS350 will begin from 1st gear, but in Auto mode until it hits 3rd gear; only then will you take manual control of the shifting. That's just stupid.
In my FX, I usually downshift to 2nd gear, and then let the computer downshift for me to 1st gear when coming to a stop. It's much easier and it doesn't bang into 1st gear that way. This is how all the Infiniti vehicles now work in ManuMatic mode, and this is why Infiniti changed the G35 Sedan's manumatic tranny logic beginning with the '04.5 model.
3. Some of the interior materials of the IS350 seem much cheaper in quality (look and feel) than the other Lexus vehicles.
Those were the 3 spoilers for me; otherwise, I would have definitely considered the IS350...it's a very fast and decent looking car!

It's funny you mention the interior of the IS350. I too was not impressed with the interior at all. I found it to be no better than my 03 Sedan. I typically love Lexus interiors but the IS I found was very disapointing.
With a new addition to the family on the way, the cramped interior is what turned me off the most.

The way it should work is to make sure the car will downshift automatically for you all the way down to 1st gear when coming to a stop, so you can shift in ManuMatical mode right from 1st gear. This is how all the Infiniti vehicles now work in ManuMatic mode, and this is why Infiniti changed the G35 Sedan's manumatic tranny logic beginning with the '04.5 model.
