I haven't had a chance to read all the reviews of the '07 in detail. But I've seen a few reviewers comment that the '07 looks quite similar to the '06 (while the big changes are in engine & interior).

What do you think? Do you think the general public will see the '07 and say "that's the new redesign of the G35!"? Or will the person need to know what to look for first? (chrome lip spoiler, wheel design, etc)

without a doubt.. the rear is very changed if you ask me...the overall top of the car also seems a little more pushed back, and given a little more sporty feel. Also the silver lip on the top of the trunk.

I agree that the exterior of the new G has changed quite a bit IMO. Whether the "average" will spot the changes I would say is doubtful though. Once you sit inside the new G, I don't think there will be any mistaking by the "average" person which one is which.

I didn't get all the comments about "barely noticeable changes" either. I suppose most people won't spin around in their seats while driving to check out the new G, but certainly customers on the car lot looking at the two models side-by-side should see the (IMO) dramatic differences in exterior styling.

Most "average people" can barely tell the difference between a G and a Z. My vote is no, they dont have a chance.

I think most people won't, but anyone who is into cars will for sure, even if you park an '05-'06 next to an '04 you can see a big difference IMO.

I'm asking because I want my girlfriend to consider the '07 G. But her brother has the older G..and she is concerned everyone is going to say "why did you buy the same car as your brother?!".

they will probably be like "wow.. ur sisters car is hotter than yours"..."way to be the man loser"...

I've been following this forum, specificially for the 2007 G35 Sedan for about a month now and have finally made my decision to get one so I signed-up and can now post.

I currently drive an 1997 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro (54K miles) but I'm due for a new car. I've been kicking around the idea of a used 2005 Acura RL or 2006 Infiniti M45 but like everything about the G35 and can get a new one for around the same price as those used.

My boss has a 2005 G35 and I test drove it recently. While I liked the ride, I felt the engine wasn't very smooth. However, I'm reading that the new VQ will be smoother (I like smooth engines like the older Maximas had). Hopefully it will be smooth.

All of that said, I showed my boss pictures of the new G35 and he couldn't believe how much nicer it is. He really did think it looked a lot different on the outside and was amazed at how nice the interior was.

I have to admit, when I see a current G35 on the road, I need to do a double-take to make sure it isn't a new one but I really think it does look different enough to be recognized as a new model.

No, The average person will not be able to tell the difference. Car enthusiasts? Yes, G35 owners? Yes, Pretty much anyone else? No. Most folks aren't really into cars like that to notice that Infiniti stretched the nose a little bit, changed the headlight design a little bit, and added a crease line. That’s not enough to make Joe-I-don’t-know-anything-cars to notice. The exterior design of the New G could pass for a face-lifted older model IMO (which isn't a bad thing). The general shape of the new G is slightly different but without an older model next to it most folks won’t notice.

In my opinion the C-pillar window shape (or curve design) is what sets the character of sedans. The new G has a rounder shape to the window and it starts moving towards the front of the car on it's downward slope. The current G goes straight down towards the road on it's downward slope.

I'm not sure if I'm making sense but, to me, that makes them look a lot different.

I think the current G is great looking still. I saw a TV commercial last night for it touting the 298HP and it looked real nice in the commercial. I guess they're making one last marketing push to sell them off before the new ones arrive.

Anyone that really knows cars will be able to pin it down to the drivetrain (X or RWD). Others will either have a tough time between the new G35, the M45, and the IS350. The rest of the crowd will just look, ooh and aah, and be on their way.
