Ian, it looks like you were correct regarding the CDs being necessary to rip music to the HD. I assumed you could with the CF card as well, but it doesn't look like it.

AHhhh yes I remember now.
I guess it's up in the air about the ripped file size untill someone has a chance to try it.

I wish the 335 had this...
I just found out the ipod interface is dealer install only ~$600 ouch
But at least there's an aux in option.

Even if I have to rip from the CDs, not really a big deal. I am just happy to have the option to rip music to a HD and also play MP3s from a CF card. Heck, I can't even play MP3 CDs in my 03.

Nothing in that article says to me that you _have_ to use the CD player to rip to the hard drive, just says you _can_ rip from the CD top the hard drive. I would be really surprised if that was the only way you could get audio files onto the hard drive, as that would be a really stupid user interface restriction, in my opinion. In fact, I won't buy the option if that is true. I'm betting you can copy from the CF card, and probably off of MP3 CD's as well to the HD.
