hope to purchase new G35S

I hope to purchase a 2k7 when the dust settles.

Here's a little about me:

Purchased a 98 Maxima SE new, still have it will keep.
Considered E46 328Ci, didn't pull trigger
Considered E46 330i performance package, $4k off list, didn't pull trigger!
Took ultimate drive, planned on buying E90 330i sport pkg in Feb, but 335 came along and price bumped, don't like the upcoming 328 alternative

Read the reviews on the G35S, feel like it may be the right car for me!

I can't do anything without driving the car, but I do trust the mags to be objective. Sounds like the new G35 will not hang in the slalom or on any tight roadcourse. But everything else seems sweet, especially the price. Since E90's are going for 2.5 - 3k off list right now (guess that would change with the 335), the G35S is no bargain at list. But if it goes $2000 off eventually, I'd feel it's a tremendous bargain.

I am totally comfortable knowing the car didn't "dethrone" the 3 Series.

I just bought my coupe 4 months ago.!!
I have benn driving the 4th gen maximas since they were born in 96.!!
This is the only 2 door i have ever purchased.!!
My advise is that going from what we came out of into a coupe or a sedan is a dramatic difference.!!! Basicly whatever you choose in this price line is a major difference.!!
Good luck to you and never forget where these vq's came from.!!!

Welcome aboard John. I've always like the Maxis, such a great car.

I am not sure if you read the comparo by Auto week against the IS350 and 330i, but the G35 Sport favored fairly well.

Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks...a friend emailed me the MT article, and really, the only thing I took that was lesser in the G35 was the steering and the harshness of the ride. To me those are refinement issues, and they're using a 3 Series as a benchmark. Those are the things I have to get a feel for when I drive the new G35S.

I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of if we go for bang-for-buck, which the G35 will provide much more of. Not to mention the lower costs of ownership and probably 100% reliability.

In my opinion, the new 3 with sport package and active steering is perfection for handling. It carries a high price tag. And even the review of the 335 coupe said it's no M3 (E46), so in their circle they can also debate. If cost were no object, I'd go for the BMW. But this is the real world, so cost and reliablility do matter!

I haven't even seen the new G35 in person, and I get the distinct feeling it's a winner. Time go get the MT Car of the Year calipers back to Infiniti (maybe not if it drives the price up hehe)!

I think it will be important to wait and see how the 07 sorts out. They will probably still be the better buy than BMW as know but the new 335i is looking pretty sweet.
