2007 G35 or 2006 GS300
Guys...i know this forum response will be kind of biased, but I am looking to trade my 03 G35 in soon. I've been looking at pre-owned 2006 GS300s lately and have always loved and wanted a lexus GS. But, I love my G35 and am lovin the pics of the 07s. Right now, the 06 GS I have been lookin at have about 12k miles on them and can probably get one for $38k. So should I go for a pre-owned Lexus or get a brand new 07 G35 in November? I had this dilemma when I purchased the new G35 in 2003. It was either that or a pre-owned 2001-2 GS, and I ended up goin for the G35. Give me reasons for ur opinions...haha. Thanks!

"On the downside? Some on staff feel too much tire noise makes it into the Infiniti's interior and its steering isn't as refined as the GS 430's or the Acura's."
"The Lexus carries a base price of $51,125, which makes it almost $2 grand more than the others. But that extra expense is more than justified by traditional Lexus attention to detail and sweet workmanship. The GS 430 is built like a fine watch and runs just as smoothly. Its interior is a wonderful mix of fine leather, rich wood and simplistic design. Its forms may not be as artful as the other two, but the materials used and its ergonomics are far superior."
"Still, on paper, it's the Lexus that comes out on top. Its combination of performance, luxury and astonishing attention to detail cannot be ignored. It's a car worthy of its price premium over the others, and it's a car anyone would be proud to own. But the Acura RL has run a very close second, very close, and the Infiniti M45 Sport a close third."
"The difference is that the Lexus just feels better than the Infiniti. The Lexus feels special. Although not as powerful, its engine is smoother and more refined, its interior is quieter and more elegant, and its suspension tuned more precisely. Driving the Lexus makes you feel like your money has been spent on the very best, and the car will reward you for years to come."
"The steering is better than that. In fact, this is the best steering in any Lexus today. It's perfect. Plus you get to control it with a perfectly shaped three-spoke steering wheel covered in a combination of walnut accents and buttery leather. By comparison, the steering wheels in the Infiniti and Acura feel like they're covered in sandpaper."
"Lexus has worked the same magic with the GS 430's bucket seats. They're soft but firm at the same time, bolstered just enough and they're swathed in leather so supple you swear you've dropped yourself into a giant Coach wallet. The inside of the Lexus even smells of leather, and we can't say that of the Infiniti or the Acura."
"Lexus is also a step up in safety technology."
"All three of these sedans offer about the same rear-seat room, amenities and comfort, so we can't give the GS any points for that, but we do want to praise the Lexus for its superior ergonomics."
"This is quite a car. It's the best sport sedan from Japan in its price range. It may even be the best sedan in its class. Nice job, Lexus."
"Noisy interior, feels a bit crude compared to the Lexus."
If you only want raw performance get the Infiniti M, but if you want refined performance, luxury, build quality, etc. get the Lexus GS.

SLICK, you do realize that Edmunds was the one and ONLY publication out of many to rank the GS higher than M in overall points? You name a camparo, EVERY one ranked the M higher, and in many cases gave it the crown. And in none of the other publications was the issue of style (except for C&D who disliked the Piano keypad) or quality of interior materials ever mentioned. Please do not use quotes from one article and use it as universal proof because it is not.

Slick, your opinion about the GS vs. the M35 is well noted, but you will loose merit quoting Edmunds as your only source.
Since this was specifically about the G35 vs. the GS 300/350 and the M35 got involved, I would have to point out five months after the comparison details you posted where the GS 430 won a three way comparison, the GS 300 came in last in a five car comparison. The M35 came in 3rd and the Acura came in 1st here Sport Sedan Comparison. This is one of the write ups about the GS 300:
"A consensus on the cabin design was hard to find. Some thought it had too many cheap-looking plastics and not enough wood trim. Others admired the watchlike gauge faces and the soft-white ambient lighting". Correct me if I'm wrong but the interior of both GS 300 & 430 is the more or less the same shhhhhhh.
Edmunds was consistent in criticizing the interior of the M in both comparisons, which means they feel the Acura and Audi is more luxurious than the GS. I'm certain you would argue the GS is more luxurious than both, yet I'm quoting the same source you quoted that backs your claim the GS is more luxurious than the M. That's inconsistent on Edmonds part.
Edmunds does not represent the law among auto reviewers so you will need more sources before your opinion is factual.
