I wish Infiniti would release prices for the new G to compare, I am guessing that there is going to be an interesting difference in prices of these two cars when they are comparably equipped.

The 3 is outselling the G by a substantial amount right now, so price must not be the deciding factor when comparing.

 

I don't know about you but price sure is a factor to me. why not just buy the M3 or M5 then?

Because people shopping within a certain segment are usually willing to move 15% or so on price (up or down), not from 45k to 85k.

 

Agreed, I'm just making the statement. If the G and the 3 are suppose to be so close, but yet the MSRP's are so far apart, then why are the 3 sales running away from the G...?

That tells me that:

1. The two cars are not that close.
2. Pricing must not be the deciding factor.

Perhaps there are great lease rates on the 3 as well to cut the overall price gap.

 

That is true. When I got the 335i I have to admit I was pretty astonished at the residual + mf, and what it did for lease rates. With my trade I could have leased the car for under $300/mo. The sedan has a slightly lower residual and a higher mf, so lease rates won't be as good. It'll be interesting to see how initial residuals are on the G sedan.

The G35 will have all of the options above if you get the premium and sport packages and it will probably sticker for about $35000. No way the BMW leases can be anywhere near the Infiniti ones. For one the 335 will probably be selling above msrp for the first 6 months. People have already stated that they have orders for a 07 G35 for $1000 below MSRP. The cap cost reduction alone will mean that the BMW's will be a horrible lease option.

 

I think your low-balling the '07 G's price here. My '07G on order that has all options, including Active-steer - the Infiniti Rep told me that this will be around $43K. Yes there is no "official" final pricing yet but one can assume he's close. And I disagree w/the BMW leasing statement - there are times where BMW has fantastic lease rates.

 

Well, I just did a comparable equiped 335i on their site, it's close to $49950, so there is a gap close to $6000-7000.

 

I was debating myself between 335i and new G35. This 335i price release has made it very clear that 335i won't be my next car. I'm sure the car will be great and fast, but no way in hell that I'll pay over $45k for that car with minimum option pkg. I think 335i is the only "premium luxury" car with base price of near $40k that DOES NOT offer leather as standard. WTF?!

The new G35 Sport comes with everything that I need as standard (leather, HID, 18" wheel, auto with paddle shifter, alum pedals and more) for only around $33K. I don't need sunroof, Nav, active steering or 10" woofer on the door.

When pushed really hard, new G35 may still lack that elusive BMW steering feel feedback. But for $12K saving, who care?

If I'm willing to spend $45K for a car, I would rather get other premium sedan than an overpriced 335i sedan with inadequate back seats.

 

Even though I am still waiting for the G35 to be released next month or so, but I am so pissed that WTF it takes Infiniti to release a car. BMW already came out with two new car after Infiniti debuted the sedan, both the 335i coupe and sedan was debut way later than the G35, this is what make me upset.

 

No surpises with BMW. It was pretty well known that the twin turbo was going to run about 2,500. Worth it? Probably. Then the coupe tended to be another 1,800. But keep in mind the coupe and sedan apparently share zero body panels, and the coupe is much stiffer. So yes, it's so easy for a BMW to totally get away, 51k for a coupe easy, 48k for a sedan. That alone says (doesn't this go back to 7th grade math) that the area of the circles where the buyers are in common is pretty small.

The thing that irks me with Infiniti is as soon as the salesperson knew I was interested in a 2k7, I never heard from him again. Maybe the typical Infiniti salesperson is like Nissan, and they wont even be working there when the new G comes out. Sorry, but I'm getting the distinct vibes they don't take pride in selling Infinitis.

Not so with BMW, go to any dealer website and you'll see salespersons with 5-17 yrs. of BMW sales. They love their product (probably because the margins are high, they sell themselves, and it is something to take pride in). They are glad to talk about something they don't have, and keep in touch.

Don't get me wrong, 37k and I'm probably G35S bound. That doesn't mean later on I wont get what I really want, anything's possible!

 

No one will may over msrp for the 335i sedan unless they haven't even seen a computer for the last 15 years. I ordered my 335i three days after they arrived at dealerships for 2k under msrp. In fact if you're in the U.S you can make a very compelling case for European Delivery - odds are you'll spend the same as a G35 and get a trip to Munich in the process.

As for the G price, no one knows yet. I am going to guess that with premium it will not be 35k.

Oh, and inadequate back seats? Eh? Are you mistaking the 335i for the IS350?

I just want to point out also that sometimes buying cars at a discount bites you later. Re-sale on the current G sedan is actually rather mediocre because of heavy discounts and fleet sales.
