Just thought about something on Music Box

The Infiniti site says that the Music Box will automatically label and catalog inserted discs...how? iTunes does it by connecting to CDDB over the internet. Does this mean that the in-dash system has wi-fi? I can't imagine them using a database pre-built in as it would be obsolete instantly.

As mahvelous as the '07 promises to be, if it had mobile Internet connectivity we would have heard about it by now from the company. The site says that "Artist, album, song title and album information are automatically labeled and cataloged." That information is already on the CD, no? The sound system presumably extracts that information from every CD that's ripped on the system and puts it into a music database it builds on the HD.

CD's have track, album, and artist information built in. My Sony Stereo System at home displays track, album, and artist information.

It's my understanding that the CD has to be [CD-TEXT] compatible for this to execute, which most are nowadays.

Not 100% sure though.

Depends if the on-board OS is reading the V-tags or just the filename.
