Put a deposit on a one today

Put a refundable deposit on 2007 G35x today. The car is due to arrive at the dealership on Nov 17th.

Got Auto, NAV, Prem, Tech, with Wood. It's Platinum Graphite with Black Int.

Anyone have any pics of this new color? Best the dealer could tell me is that he suspects it's a lighter grey.

I'm coming out of a 2003 G35 sedan, Desert Platinum, and I wanted something a little different.

Hmm...didn't know the x-AWD was coming in a Platinum Graphite color. I really wish they would release the full color-pallete along with pictures. It's not business critical like the pricing info they're holding back.

Here's what the dealer told me as far as color combos:

garnet ember w/wheat or graphite (flat black)
lakeshore slate w/wheat or stone (grey)
black w/wheat, graphite, stone
liquid platinum w/graphite or stone
serengeti sand w/graphite or wheat
platinum graphite (grey) w/graphite or stone
blue slate w/graphite or stone
ivory pearl w/wheat or stone

I thought the lakeshore slate would have wheat/stone like the prev model, but the GM at my dealership asked me if I wanted stone or graphite.

I should say that I was close to ordering a 335i. I test drove one, and liked it.

Reasons for going with the G:

I need Nav for work, Idrive was the biggest piece of S of I ever saw. And I'm quite tech-oriented as well. It was maddingly unintuitive.

The beemer, with all the bells and whistles, tops 50k! Sure, you can slice a few non-essentials, (pleather seats anyone?) but when the glow wore off in a few days, I knew I'd be happier in the G. It's a better all-rounder, at least for me.

A few weeks a go, test drobe a 335i coupe in the philly area. Sport suspension felt great, but I think I would tire of it after a while. I drive my car every day for work. I specifically did not get the sport suspension in my G, and I was glad for it.

Hoipe I'm not too let down by the G's auto tranny. I tested both a manual and the auto on the BMW. I had driven a manual years ago, (for about 6 years,) and thought I might like it again. Call me an ole fogey, but I got tired of lifting my left foot in the first mile. The auto was quite good, liek driving a manual with no clutch, let you downshift and rev all the way to redline. Nice quick shifts too. Again, hope I'm not too disappointed by the G's auto.

Platinum Graphite sounds awesome. Without seeing the colors, that's the one that sounds the best IMO.

platinum graphite is almost like the diamond graphite currently... the liquid platinum remains the same from 2006,
lakeshore slate, black, ivory pearl, seregenti sand carry over

This whole time a dealer from So Cal was communicating with me, and I thought he was trying to sell me a 2007. I didn't realize he was talking about 2006 when he said "diamond graphite". And you won't believe the price he offered it at:

I can get a diamond graphite/stone interior with nav and premium only with a list price of $39,180 or a diamond graphite/graphite interior with nav, premium package and splash guards listing for $39,390. These are both 2006 models.

I did order the 335i coupe thanks to this forum always talking about it. But with the BMW, you have to get the Japanese reliability/value concept out of your mind, is what other BMW owners told me. Once I did that, I realized that maybe I could cut out unnecessary things like active steering, iDrive, rear sunshade, etc., and stick to the major packages like sport, premium, cold weather, comfort access. With that I was under 45 not incl. tax and tags. I tell you when I sat in a showroom car today on my return trip to the dealer, I don't think the glow is going to wear off. I'm giving you a real number, the car with the above was 44,7xx. More than I wanted to spend, true.....

The other thing I found interesting is that on the BMW order system, my name and the saleswoman's name are on the order. It doesn't sound like Infiniti does that.

That's a crazy price for '06 models with the '07s coming out .....

Better stay clear of this dealer for '07 -- most likely they will expect some $$ over MSRP !!!
