Wheel/tire size question

I currently run my 04' 6MT coupe on a set of Avons A/S with the following specs:

Front: 225/45/R18
Rear: 245/45/R18

The 07' Sport model comes with:

Front: 225/50/R18
Rear: 245/45/R18

As you can see, there is a difference in the profile of the front tires. My Avons are fairly new (my original Pilots were shot at 28K miles). I was wondering if I would be able to swap the Avons for the summer tires with that small profile difference?

Has it been confirmed yet that the 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport has summer tires? I want a 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport ( the paddle shifters are hot ), but I'll most likely die in the winter here in NJ if I get one.

Damn...it's quite obvious but I didn't even really think of the fact that we won't really be able to rotate the tires every 3-5K when changing the oil. I guess it's going to be expensive for tires with this car, huh?

Speed, I would say NO...keep them what the factory installed unless you go +1 to 19's, but that's not needed or cost-effective.

btw how are the Avon's? I have a set in my basement but haven't mounted them yet on my Nissan Maxima. I'm planning on continuing to drive my Maxima in the winter and I'm running 235/40-18 and got the Avon A/S (did a Kumho Ecsta ASX prior, was so-so). Was toying with a pure snow tire but don't think I need them here....

Slick, yes, it's been confirmed.

I asked that question yesterday when I went to check it out. They packaged it like the previous models. Any combo of either the 6MT, the Auto with Sport Package, or the Wheel and Tire package by itself, will get you high performance W rated summer tires.

I looked at those yesterday while I was at the dealer and let me tell you: In snow, you are not going anywhere. Those are low profile aggressive tires that will serve you one purpose in bad weather: A DEATH TRAP!

I think the 18"s come with Bridgestone Potenza RE50.

The Avons are great. Not as good as the Michelin Pilots the car originally came with in terms of cornering and handling those "oh $hit" situations . I would definitely won't take those to the track. But for a daily driver, those are great. They have low road noise, handle pretty good, great handling in wet weather with practically zero hydroplaining, and they are even pretty decent in snow and slush. Definitely a good compromise between summer and winter tires. The life span is great as well. I have 10K miles on them at this point and they are not showing any signs of premature wear.

The points I mentioned above, made me want to strip them off the coupe and use them as winter tires on the 07 sedan.
