Polls like this should also have a "neither" for the rest of us.

Are you planning on stealing one, Wally? There should be a forth one that says, "Sorry, this forum convinced me to get a BMW 335 instead."

I will be leasing mine due to the tax write-offs of my business. This is the first car that I have ever leased but it made financial sense simply because I can write-off my lease payments.

True ... , but if I wasn't getting a 2007 Infiniti G35 as a gift from my parents I'd definitely buy it instead of leasing it.

Must be nice - in the US at least for what I do, I would only have the option to write off the depreciation - or in a leasing agreement my tax bracket only. This is why I purchased another car and expense that out directly under the company. I thought Canada has very high tax rates on leases as well…?

Commercials vehicles w/GVW over 6,500Lbs [if I'm not mistaken], you can write off the full depreciation over 4 year period - but I do believe that loophole has been closed.

Two questions ... 1. What kind of business do you own? 2. What does it mean when you say, "I can write-off my lease payments?"

Yes, I can write off 100% of my lease payments. That wouldn't be the case if I financed the vehicle. I am not able to claim any tax benefits on the payments I make on my 03 but I can expense the depreciation just like you mentioned.

Now if I could only use the interest I pay on my mortgage like you guys can in the US I would be a happy camper.

I am a Network Engineer fulltime and have a home-based business on the side. With a home-based business there are a ton of tax advantages....one of them being able to able to write-off my lease payments.....meaning an expense to my business.

Nice ... so you don't have to show how much of the vehicle was used in your business ??
In effect, could your home business be done entirely from home (remote work) and you can still write off the lease ?? -- that's sweet !!

Canadian law seems cool

Hey, are you taking a shot at me? *LOL* Because this forum really steered me there, and my order is in the BMW system. But truthfully, I really love cars, and that's why I'm interested in the "G35 experience." And I also think that I've more in common with G35 owners than bimmer drivers....finances, values, experience, etc. Anyway, my .02.....
