Automatic Door Locking
Automatic Door Locking
I did a test ride today and was told by the sales person that you can not program the G35's doors to lock automatically when you put the car in gear or hit a preset speed, is this true?
Every car I have owned in the last 10 years had this feature, I find it hard to believe that it can not be programmed into an Infiniti.

I remember a comedian one time ragging on cars with this feature, shrieking "We aren't living in Sarajevo!". Truly entertaining.
As much as I live in Worcester and this is probably one of the sketchiest places I'll be in for a while, I still think that simply locking the doors from a button works just as well - especially when you're in a situation that'd remind you to do so.
That having been said, it's a feature most people expect when coming from other brands (I'm surprised!).

My Ford Lightning does it, and I really like this feature (I live in Houston, where we have super nice parts of town and super ghetto parts, not entirely unlike Sarajevo).
Of course, I also have a CHL, and I'm a self-defense instructor.
I wish the G locked the doors like that, since it's my wife's primary car...

I always thought the 'auto-lock the doors feature' is so you dont get ejected from your car when in a bad accident.
Locked doors are a big safety plus in an accident, and automatic door locking can't be all that expensive. Maybe Nissаn found from their market research that some of their more macho customers consider the feature emasculating. As a compromise, the same impact sensors that trigger airbаgs and (in some cars) tighten seаtbelts and roll up windows could lock the doors. Anyone know if the new G will lock its doors in an accident?

I doubt it will lock the doors, as there are two views to that. If you are knocked unconcious and the car is on fire and there is only one person at the scene who can't break the window they will watch you burn.
My opinion (not that it matters) is that this should be a driver programmable option. There are people who absolutely HATE this feature (they want to be in total control of the car) and there are those who LOVE this feature (they want to be safe). Nissan has everything they need to make it happen, but they choose not to.
