Impressions please!

 

Aside from 18 vs 17 inch wheels and tires, larger brakes, and rear active steer, the Sport has the same suspension as the regular G doesn't it? So I'd imagine they're pretty similar.

 

The Sport model has the Sport tuned suspension and sport tuned VDC.

 

yes please i tested the X but i really need to test the Sport

 

I have been looking in the brochure and all of the other 2007 G sedan materials and I still can't find this written anywhere. I don't doubt it but I would like to see it documented somewhere from Infiniti. Has anyone seen this documented in any Infiniti literature/website?

 

I know I have read this somewhere also.
It talks about the Sport VDC tuning at this Infiniti site: http://www.infinitinews.com/index.html in the "at a glance" section of the 2007 G35 Sedan as quoted below.
"Standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), unique VDC tuning for G35 Sport and G35 Sport 6MT"

 

The sport definitely has a different VDC set up that allows a higher % slip.

When I tested the sport I was able to get a little sideways with some wheel slip.
The VDC light didn't come on, and the system didn't intervene.
I pushed a little harder & the system came in & did it's job.

This is a huge improvement over the 1st gen system.

 

The Canadian dealer spec sheet I have lists: Sport Tunes Suspension and Sport Tuned VDC for the Sport model.

 

I was speaking to an Infiniti tech at the launch and he mentioned to me he had both cars up on the hoist and the sport was significantly beefed up. Specifically he also referenced the bars...must have been talking about the sway bars.

 

Good to know people, but has anyone driven both? :-)

 

i've driven both obviously and the X does handle great but you do feel a little more roll than the sport. the sport is stiffer and the seats are more supportive than the G35x seats so with all that if felt a lot better in the sport. the brakes you feel a dramatic different from sport and the 12.6/12.1 combo in the G35x. power from the G35x is a night and day than the small lag in the 2006 MY

 

im kinda torn, cause i have a house in the woods that my brothers 4-wheel drive f-150 truck has a hard time with when it snows hard, but for the other 3/4 of the years, i want my sport, damn just when i had my mind made up

 

just get snow tires and get teh sport. it's fun

 

Kenny...just want to make sure I understand correct. You're saying the difference between the X and Sport in 2007 is greater than the X and Non-X in 2006? Wow...that doesnt sound good at all...

 

I've only driven the X. Its suspension is quite stiff, so I cannot imagine that the Sport is much (if any) stiffer. I suspect that as is ride quality might be the major reason people opt for a competitor. If they were going to have two different suspensions, why not separate them more?

Might be that the Sport has thicker stabilizers, but that they all share the same firm spring rates and shocks.

Errors creep into all releases, articles. I list a sport suspension as part of the Sport on my price comparison site, but I'm not entirely sure the two are different.

Even if this is the case in Canada, it might not be the case in the U.S. Cars are sometimes outfitted differently for the two countries.
