Has anyone jacked up a video ipod to the RCA's? I assume you can watch video while parked, correct? What about listening to ipod, how does it sound?

I was hoping I could answer your question today, but unfortunately my luck screwed me again. I just got my car today and I have my ipod but the cable I bought didn't work. Serves me right for buying a cheap cable (link was posted in this forum).

If anyone knows where I can buy a better cable without dishing the full $99 for the OEM AV kit, please let me know. I see a lot of cables on eBay but they all look similar to what I bought.

Any cheap cable should work. You can probably pick one up at radio shack. Maybe something else in the problem.

I bought another one at radioshack and it works now. Btw... make sure you set your iPod to TV out. I forgot that at first.

Here are the cables that I bought. More expensive than eBay but much cheaper than Apple.

The movie quality looked OK. It wasn't the greatest, but the movie was definitely watchable. I definitely saw some pixelization on screen. I'm not sure why because the movie should be in 640x480 downloaded directly from iTunes. Does anyone know what the native Nav res. is?

Sound quality was superb though. Surround sound was definitely noticeable.

The movie will not play unless you are parked and the parking brake is applied. If you take the parking brake off, the screen turns black and you get a notice that says to park if you want to watch. The sound of the movie is still available though.

Someone find a way to hack this and I'll be a very happy camper. I'll post better pictures later.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't think it is a good idea to have the LCD be able to play a movies while driving. Again, maybe it's just me, but I just think it would be too much of a distraction having a movie playing in plain viewwhile you are driving. There are too many accidents on the roads as it is IMO. Just my .02 cents.

wouldn't you just have to ground the ebrake wire, unless it relies on a gyroscopic sensor though I guess.

Bang on Shane! I would rather keep my G in perfect condition than watch a movie and destroy it! It would be more distracting than someone trying to read a paper map while driving! I am sure we have all seen those drivers nearly killing themselves or others!

The movies would be for my passenger, not me. My wife brings a portable dvd player with her when we travel so playing movies in the nav wouldn't be any more of a distraction. It just gives us one less thing to carry around.

Since the G already has 1,203,495,234 different ways to listen to music, movies would probably be the best way to use the ipod.
