I don't see why not since sticker is $39,700. But I assume CA has other taxes you have to pay?

I bought my G35 a few days ago with about 5 hours of grueling negotiations with the car salespeople (3 different ones) at peninsula Infiniti in Redwood city, CA (i do recommend them though). They were going to give me my G35 Sport with Navi, Premium, and a couple of minor things for 38650 (sticker) + $970 for lojack. I said take off the lojack and i'll pay 35k for the car. Anyway, after 5 hours they did take off the lojack but only gave me a small discount on the car, I ended up getting it for about 38k even, which plus taxes and licensing here in CA came out to a little over 41k. They said they had not sold a G under sticker yet. They said they sold their show car with 800mi on it for sticker, and all the rest an average of $400 over sticker. I don't know how true that is but...that's what they said.

I spoke to Peninsula Infiniti and they said that they were selling G35s at below MSRP under Costco's pricing sheet. Before I brought up Costco, the salesperson quoted me MSRP.

Still trying to figure out how much of a discount they are offering...

EDIT: I'm in the market for a base model, so that may have been the difference.

The costco idea sounds like its the way to go either way...its a good starting point for negotiations.

I plan on getting a 6mt with no options for 31950$ (includes dest and handling)...I wont settle for less than 1000 off MSRP at this point. they arent exactly desparate yet but if you ORDER the car I see it as being easy money for them

yah costco is pretty good! although i have never bought a car through them YET id imagine you could get a good deal through them! i usually go through a car broker i know cuz i hate dealers! they suck! most of the time i can get a reasonable offer through my broker! hes pretty good! nothing cheap but reasonable!

The thing with costco is I'm sure it is still up to the dealer whether they will honor it or not. Just like these employee discounts some of us can get for example I can buy any GM or Ford for below invoice but try it on the Corvette and forget it.

The way it works is you schedule an appointment with the dealer through Costco's website. If they call you, then they are pretty much saying they will abide by Costco's pricing sheet. This price supposedly has been prenegotiated between Costco and the dealer.

Never, NEVER go back and forth with a dealer. You're always going to lose that battle.

That's right, there's nothing to go back or forth over. Because it's not an offer/counter-offer situation imho. When we walk in, we should already have an offer from someone else. It should be basically beat that someone else's offer--they don't, we see ourselves to the door. They do, we realize we could have gotten a better deal, but we live with it and are on our way to a new car. Not sure what would take hours, it's not even worth it to save $500....my .02
