Rain, rain...and no rear wiper!

How does everyone else deal with rain on every window surface of their G? I'm finding a lot of problems with rain beading and sticking to rather useful surfaces like the rear window (my soul for a rear window wiper!) and window between the side mirror.

I assume most of the responses will be "I suck it up and don't put anything on my windows", but for those of you who have the same irksome problem - how have you approached it? I'm of course inclined towards Rain-X or some similar product on any surface that isn't a slider, but if anyone has any wild, crazy, or amazing suggestions, let's hear 'em!

(Yes, I know this is a general automotive question...buuut...it's an '07 G, and she's a beauty...and "just google it" isn't as fun as half the responses I'm bound to get : )

The G is not a SUV.

Try Rain-X but not on the windshield. Or just go faster.

I was going to suggest the same thing, get some Rain-X, works like a charm.

I use the Zaino Gloss Enhancer Z6 on the outside of all my windows and the water just beads and rolls off at speed. I rarely use my wipers in the rain at highway speeds. Just don't put it on your mirror.

Hmmm... I actually noticed the same thing today. Visibility out of rear window was really poor and I was telling myself that it would've been nice to have a rear windshield wiper.

Rain-X will solve almost all of these problems - mildly annoying to have to re-do it periodically, but works.

Rain-X works great but it leaves a greasy feel on your hands. Normally if you keep your windshield clean using a good automotive window cleaner and wipe it down often, the rain will bead and run almost as good as Rain-X.

^ I agree with this. Keep your damn rear window clean, it makes all the difference in the world by allowing the water to bead up and just roll off. And throw on your defrosters for good measure - that helps quite a bit.

I've always used Rain-X and think it works pretty good. Next time Wayne, I am going to have to try my Z6. I never even thought of using that on my windows. Thanks for the tip.

Yes , try it out Shane. Ian mentioned he has been using it and was pleased with the results last year, so I gave it a go and it works. Saves on buying Rain X.
When I am detailing the car with the Z6 I spritz the windows too.

I just drove in heavy rain last night for the first time. My gripe is that the wipers made a faint noise each time they came back down to the starting position. I could hear it even with my music on. Anyone else have this problem? It's really not a major PITA or anything.

Also, avoid using Rain-X on your front windshield if you anticipate heavy rain, because you'll end up turning on your wipers anyway, and the rubber strips will "skip" or "hop" across the glass because of the Rain-X coating.
