Bluetooth Voice Commands
Hi everyone,
I just picked up my G35X yesterday and have a question about the Bluetooth interface and using voice commands. It seems that most of the voice commands apply to the in car phone book. I couldn't get directly to the voice dial commands in the phone (Verizon Moto V710). Does anyone know if this is possible?
Love the car but will have to spend a few more hours learning the systems.

Did you look in the Voice Recognition Cheat Sheet thread?

Yes - read the cheat sheet and the Phone commands only refer to the onboard phone book. Thought about trying to go directly to the phone by using the phone button, but when I tried that I got the response on the phone, but could not hear the phones reply.
My phone doesn't work quite right with my G35x, so I wouldn't know for sure, but the short answer is no, and the long answer is maybe.
The long answer is that on phones where you have voice command ability through a headset (like a Sony Ericsson headset with a Sony Ericsson phone and the button on the earpiece), it generally requires the same OEM for BT headset and phone, because there are certain interfaces that aren't universal for say, calling up voice commands. The way the car works isn't even the same Bluetooth Profile as an earpiece - it uses the Handsfree profile, which is sort of a combination of serial port and earpiece. So the issue could either be that a) the sampling rate for a Bluetooth connection isn't high enough for the phone's voice command ability (a common problem for pocketpc/windows mobile users) or b) it would need a signal from a compatible headset to pick up a voice command (like the button on your phone that says "hey! listen to me!".

I just went out and tried the direct approach and that didn't work. If I connect the BT earpiece, I have no problem, but that locks out the car connection since the phone can only pair with one device at a time. Will have to live with it for the time being until I change phones in 2 months. My current phone will not down load the phone book either, but that is a known shortcoming.
Thanks for your help.
