Stillen License plate bracket

I took some measurements and called Stillen today about their license plate bracket that screws into your tow hook.

It looks like we need a 24mm bolt. When I measured the length from the end of the threads to the surface of the bumper it was a hair under 5". Stillen's 24mm bolt is 5 7/8th" in length which seems to me would have the license plate almost an inch from the bumper surface which I would think is too much.

This bolt was designed for '04 - '06 G35 coupes. They said they are getting '07 stuff in this week and within a couple of weeks should have the correct length bolt. I will follow up with them then.

Anyone with one of these on their G's now? If so how far from the bumper surface does it sit?

Not yet they said it would be around the middle of the month before they knew more.

Why do you think an inch is too far? Guess I can see your point on looks, but I'd rather have it away from the bumper with no way to hit / scratch it, than closer.

My current plan is to just not run with a front license plate until someone (in a police uniform) notices...

I think it would look like something that is just kind of sticking out in the air. I agree you don't want something rubbing but if the bracket is stiff enough 1/4" should be enough. Like you for now I'm going to see how long I can drive with no front plate.

Any updates on this yet? I don't want my bumper drilled by the dealer so I have to go with this route. I was going to run without front plates, but I work on a military base and they won't allow cars through the front gate without front plates. It's a security purpose because the security camera pans the front plates of cars entering the base.

I spoke to them again a week or two ago and they were still working on something. They said to try back in late a month.

You could buy for now what they have. It would mean your plate would stick out about an inch from the bumper but since it's a screw in you can always remove it when you don't need it.

Don't mean to ruin your plans but I think the holes are pre-drilled from the factory and not the dealership. You can choose to leave off the license plate mounting bracket but you're gonna have two factory drilled holes and two white bracket screw grommets that you can't pull out without cutting or getting behind the bumper to pop out.

It may be different for special order cars like yours, though, where you may have been able to request no holes to be drilled and what not so don't quote me on it just yet.

My dealer in Cali asked if I wanted the front plate holes drilled. Of course I said no, and they said ok the braket's in the trunk.

No the holes are not pre-drilled at the factory. It is done at the option of the dealer and/or buyer.

Yup, they tossed my bracket in the trunk, I didn't want holes in my bumper.

uh oh. Better get a call into Infiniti of Honolulu NE R 02 before they drill the holes. From what everyone is saying, its completely a dealership performed thing.

I know they drill the two holes for the front bumper as well as rivet on the ugly safety check plates to hang off the rear bumper. SAVE your G!!!!
