One member said the back looks like it was taken from Volvo. I agree! I don't think the G will be affected by this coupe.

 

I disagree. I don't think the current gen Coupes, and especially the 08 Coupe will lose ANY of their exclusivity as you would call it. IMO, the 08 Altima Coupe and the Coupe Concept do not look anything alike.

 

Exclusivity? I completely missed that when I read the thread the first time. G35 and exclusivity shouldn't be in the same sentence.

 

Completely agree. It's pretty hard to call a $40k car exclusive.

...and the G6 is one awful looking vehicle, IMO.

My mom just bought a 2007 Altima sedan, which is very nicely styled and with a quality interior. That coupe just looks odd.

I've personally always hated the Altima and think it's a hideous car...and this new bastard child proves my point...

 

xclusive nt in price but as in :

a) unique shape... not anymore
b) there is a cheaper version of similar looking car now
c) the number of similar looking cars will double becuz altima + g35.. it was only half that much before... plus more nissan is bound to sell more altimas than g35s

 

I agree, this car is going to be a hit. But I don't agree with the rest. The Altima Coupe is going mainly after different buyers than the new G35 Coupe. It will be good competition for the Accord Coupe, Pontiac G6 Coupe, and Toyota Solara. But, the Solara is no more after this generation, so there are really only two cars it will be competiting against.

Nissan is giving people a choice. A lower priced FWD coupe with manual/CVT, or a higher priced-higher powered RWD coupe with manual/auto, i.e. (G35). Choice is always good.

Anything that makes Nissan more profits will be a very good thing for Infiniti. More profit means more money can be spent on development costs and higher quality products from Infiniti. To become Tier-1, Infiniti needs a worthy flagship car. They don't have that right now.

Nissan/Renault is in the business to make money. People complained about Porsche building the Cayenne, but it gives them funds to build better sports cars.

All I see is a win-win situation. That is my 2 cents...

 

The G won't lose anything to the Altima that is now has. The car is FWD and not competing in the same $ class or targeting the same customer.

Exactly Deane. The G Coupe will lose no more sales to the Altima Coupe than the 07 G Sedan will lose to the 07 Altima. Different cars targeted at different customers.
