Garnet Canuck's Review & Pics

Well, I just got home not too long ago from Nova Scotia where my dealer is located. I am a little wiped, but have obviously had an exciting last day or so. I stayed at Deane's place (RBull) last night and we both went driving yesterday after I took delivery.

Well, where to start? When I first saw my car, I fell in love with Garnet Ember instantaneously. That color is extremely striking in person, and I am SOOOO glad that I went with it. Of course, as soon as I saw the car, a perma grin immediately formed on my face and pretty much stayed there for the rest of the day.

The seats......holy **** the seats. These Sport seats are absolutely incredible. I thought the seats in my 03 were somewhat comfortable, but the Sports seats in the 07 are 100x better. The side bolters just mold to your
upper body and the thigh extension is extremely comfortable. I also love the white stitching, it gives it a real sport look. I can't comment enough on how awesome the Sport seats are.....they make getting the Sport package worth it alone.

I also love the beefier steering wheel on the 07. The steering wheel in the Sport also has the white stitching like the seats, which looks really good. IMO, the build quality of the interior is EXTREMELY good. I really had no complaints about the interior in my 03, but my 07 is sooooo much better. The materials used in the 07 are very high quality, and really puts the 03 to shame. The trunk is definitely smaller on the 07 when compared to my 03. From a quick glance, I don't think I will be able to get four golf bags in the 07 like I could in the 03.

I have never had Navigation in any of my cars, so I can't really compare it to anthying else. Having said that, I found the Navi to be extremely quick and I thought the graphics were downright amazing. I plotted a course from the dealer to Deane's house and was amazed and how well it works. I am REALLY going to love having this feature. During my 4+ hour drive home today, I really got a chance to test out the Studio on Wheels. I put in a variety of music from Flamenco guitar, to the Chilli Peppers, to a live CD of Dave Mathews. All I can say is that I am VERY impressed with it. I thought it was very clear and crisp with zero distortion at high volumes. I know that some other members didn't think it was loud enough nor had enough bass, but I thought it had all the bass that I could ever want and was certainly loud enough for me. It is a very subjective subject, but I am very happy with the SOW.

As far as driving impressions are concerned, the 07 definitley feels significantly quicker than my 03. While I never pushed it too hard, I got a sense that this puppy will definitely move. I am looking forward to after the break in so I can drive alot more aggressive. Two things I noticed compared to my 03. One was that the 5AT in the 07 is much more smooth than that of my 03. I found the shifts to be silky smooth, unlike my 03 that jerked slightly when it changed gears. The other thing I noticed is how little road noise there is in the 07. The cabin is much more quiet in the 07 than what my 03 was.

Also, I found the steering to be quite a bit lighter on the 07 when compared to my 03. I was somewhat worried that the Sport tuned suspension would be a little too harsh (with having a baby on the way), but I was pleasantly surprised. It is definitely stiffer than my 03, but in no way do I find it too harsh of a ride. It takes road imperfections with ease and it isn't jarring like I thought it might be.

This car is simply incredible inside and out. I love the lines of the hood, the sword like grill, the Sport front fascia. This car is simply beautiful to look at. It's so nice to finally see one in person!! I find it so hard to believe that Infiniti released this 07 with all the new technology and upgrades for virtually the same price as the 06 model. Infiniti did an outstanding job with the 07....hats off to them for producing such an incredible car at this price point.

Shane,

Congrats on your new G. It has been a long wait but I'm sure...worth it. Garnet Ember is extremely sexy and I'm having a hard time not considering it. Thanks for your review it was in depth and as expected. Your pics are excellent...you should post some in the official owners thread. The sight of your new G and Deane's coupe is priceless. May your new car bring plenty of happy days ahead. Now...its only 98 days until your next surprise.

Alex

Congratulations Shane. Those pics are awesome. I have loved the GE since I saw it this summer in Lennox. I especially love the side by side shots with the coupe. Enjoy your new ride.

Yeah, I slowed my speed down considerably. It snowed from Sackville until Peticodiac.

Thanks again for your hospitality, I had a great time visiting with you and Heather.

I owe a BIG thank you to you since you posted those original pics from Lennox. It was then that I decided on GE. Thanks!

I totally agree Shane. I know a lot of people have complained about the SOW, but I absolutely love mine. I think it had just the right amount of bass and I get a nice thump where there should be without needed to change the fader or bass adjustment.

The only issue I have is the volume not being constant between the sources. Like if I'm listening to radio and I have it on say 50%, when I change it to sat, the 50% is low, so I turn it up to 80%, then when I switch back to radio, it's really loud since it's at 80%. I wish I could normalize this somehow.
