Seat Heat Update

The issue with the low performing heaters relates to a wire harness that feeds into the heater harness. I took my 07 G into a dealership where a friend works and he diagnosted the problem and gave me the straight scoop. There is a reversed connection in the harness that connects to the heater that makes the driver seat perform low no matter what setting. On the passenger side in the low mode only the cushion heats, and in the high mode only the backrest heats.
This appears to be only on the new 07s sport and sedan.

Was he able to fix it? Did he call infiniti corporate to report the issue so that they will create a service bulletin?

Yes. Problem solved and heaters are working great. Don't know if he informed Infinity...I'll ask.

What was the fix? And did it take a long time? I'm due soon for my first maintenance at 3750 miles. I also noticed that on the passenger side, either the back cushion or the seat heats up, but not both. I want to complain about that, plus this annoying rattle on the right side of the dashboard when it's cold.

I talked to a friend at a trim shop who has seen the inside of both driver and passenger seats as well as many other models. Here is what I was told.

The wires harness that feeds into the seat heater harness has two wires that need to be swapped. The heaters work fine after this change. This sounds like a pretty simple fix, although the connector is under the seat and not easily accessible.

Incidentally, there appears to be two different technologies used. The driver side has what looks like a self regulating polymer technology.

The passenger side has the wire type technology that uses thermostats to control temperature. This is probably why they perform differently with same problem. Also, both thermostats are on the cushion heater?????

We picked up our G35X today, and the heated seats worked better than our 02 Acura TL.

I'm not sure of the build date. We ordered the car Oct 30/06 so I assume that the car was built sometime in November.

Tried out heated seats today on my G35 Journey

Worked pretty well, IMO. Of course, these are the first heated seats I've had, so I've nothing to compare them to...

Going to the local dealer on Monday - anyone else get it reloved?

Just checking to see if anyone got it resolved. I also have the issue where the driver seat seems to have only the low setting (can barely tell it's even on), and the passenger seat's high works on only the back. Passenger seat low works only on the bottom.

I saw an earlier post that it was a wiring swap problem - but that was one person. I want to make sure I don't waste time at the dealer. :-)

thanks!

Jeff
