hey guys,

i have a sport with the 18" wheels, i live in norcal so i dont need winter tires but i was thinking of driving up to vancouver, beautifulbritishcolumbia this winter break after uni's over...i wont be staying there long but i dont want to die basically, so i was wondering whther i need snow tires..?

My main concern is getting to our house which is in west vancouver cuz it's sort of windy and im afraid the roads might get icy..i've never driven in vancouver before so I'm askin cuz it seems like there're a good amount of canadians on this board!

I REALLLY dont want to pay $1300+ for winter tires that I'll never use..ESPECIALLY since i want to buy aftermarket rims so it'll be a double waste of money...is there a cheaper way? I know my granddad did it the old school way by putting chains on his wheels, will that absolutely destroy the car?

 

Vancouver doesn't really get snow. Sometimes, but usually just a bunch of rain. I don't think you'll have any problems.
