Clear Bra - Good Pics ?
Could someone please post a few high quality pics of the clear bra installed? even if it's on an older G, show the seams on the hood, around the lights and grille? I'd like to see one of these, but the closest dealer I could locate is 2 hours away and probably doesn't have a car there to see it.
looks good, better then I thought, how thick is the film? I was thinking it was pretty heavy, but the pictures make it look thinner then what I pictured in my head. I'm thinking about doing it just for the lower portion of the bumper and not doing the fender portion on the outside of the lights or the hood...
My '02 Altima is literally destroyed down there, and the hood has a good amount of damage, but it seems to be exactly at the edge (which I don't think the bra goes to) or it's fairly evenly scattered across the entire hood, the 3 biggest gouges are 1/2 way up the hood... So again the bra wouldn't protect it.

As promised, the photos are attached. You can only really notice the seam on the clearbra because I didn't go through with a soft toothbrush or even a terrycloth and get the wax buildup out. Still isn't bad at all, and prevents errant rocks from putting a mess in my bumper!
The only complaint I have, and the only way you can see the difference is if you do a great waxjob on the car - you can help even out some of the orange peel on the clearbra, but as you can see in my photos you won't get the same mirror finish out of it. So that's the only real downside as I see it.

Excellent quality photo's wavelengths, looks like they did a fantastic job. I can't see any seams on the first picture. I'm leaning more toward getting this put on. The pics I've seen in the past gave me the impression that you could easily see it, some of the pics even looked like the color was changed or the bra had more shine the the paint... but these pics look even, I don't see any color or reflective changes at all.... nice... and thanks.

As for "more shine" than the paint, that's a joke. The bra will have more orange peel by an order of magnitude than the car's surface after a properly PC'd wax/sealant job, so it'll have its own texture which sets it apart a bit. Going easy on it with some wax and sealant will help to even out the texture, but that's about it.
I just need to remember to go out there with a sock or something the next time I wash the car to get that wax out of the edge!

I was also a little concerned about the shine difference of the clear bra vs bare paint. The 3M folks at SEMA told me 3M has a clear coat on it which should keep the look of the 3M covered areas the same as the rest of the car. As far as thickness it is about 2 pieces of paper thick.

There is no question that the clear bra is a necessity with the newer, thin paints - however, I recommend using a CUSTOM application.
ONE sheet of film, custom cut around edges, wheel wells, into the grille area with the grille removed, etc. It hides almost all of the cuts and looks better. The "kits" leave too much of an edge. You will eventually see much dirt collecting in those areas.
