involve them speaking sequences of numbers?

I see in a PDF manual that there is supposed to be a learning mode that is activated by holding down the 'speak' button for 5 seconds while the engine is running and the car is in park with the foot brake on. When I do this, nothing happens.

If I use the voice learning commands by manually going to them with the **** on the dash, I am only asked to speak command names (i.e. words).

I ask because I have tried probably 100 times to get any spoken phone number interpreted correctly but have not had a single one register ok.

Hi...I found that same problem today. I have had the car for a week now. I got the exact results you did. Does anyone have an answer to this particular issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm....yes, seem to recall mine included sequences of numbers, which cleared up my G's ability to distinguish them (non-Nav).

Hi...I found the answer by reading a little further along in the manual. What I had originally read concerning the "learning mode" applied to NON-NAV vehicles. I just finished the learning mode procedure for Nav vehicles and everything seems to work fine. From now on I'll double check everything I read to make sure it pretains to NAV vehicles.

This might help ... when dialing phone numbers, try using speaking all 10 digits instead of only 7.

Good advice Terry. For a while I was getting frustrated when the voice recognition wouldn't recognize the last 1 or 2 numbers when I spoke up a phone number. I then tried speaking up the whole 10 digits (including area code) even for local numbers - vualla! the system was now able to recognize the number.
