Has anybody else discussed this issue with their dealer?

As an update, my tags still exist in the new unit, but they stayed in the origional Nav for a while also. I have loaded a small number of tags just in case this fix is not.

I too have lost my voice tags twice in the car. I have had three crashes of the nav computer system all when trying to disconnect a BT call with my Razr V3 phone. Two of the times I lost my voice tags ad now the system shows 40 tags listed but I can only see the first 15 when I scroll through them and it goes up to numer 15/40 and then thats it. When I manually make a call by typing in the phone number of someone in the voice tags at number 30 or 35 it does pull up their name from the directory. I just can't see it or scroll to it... Strange... The software in this car will need some updates for sure....

Couldn't agree more. Between this and the Compact Flash card ordering/display issues, they could really use some work on this software. Oh well, such is life in owning a 1st gen/1st release version of a car. Can only hope Infiniti steps up.

FYI, I recorded 3 voicetags for testing right after I picked my car up at the end of December and, so far, have not lost them.

Is 4 weeks a meaningful amount of time for them to last? That is, for those who are losing their tags, how long do they last before vanishing?

I've had the car 2 1/2 months and have lost them twice.

Okay, I talked to the dealer today - and got some serious runaround. I explained the problem and he said "Well, you must have pressed a series of buttons that erased them". I said no, that it had happened twice and that many people were having the same problem. He said Infiniti hasn't put out any bulletin on this problem and that the only way they could fix it is if they put out a bulletin or if I take it in and the voice tags actually disappear while they are looking at it. Yeah right, like that's going to happen. Hopefully Infiniti will recognize the problem and get a solution. Any way to let them know about it?

Here's the problem we are going to have with this car. No dealer (at least 99.99% of them IMHO) will be staffed right now with techs who are qualified to deal with these kinds of issues. And by techs, I don't mean an "engine tech" who can take the shop computer and plug it into your engine and spit out error code 89ZY5 and say "Yup, your washer fluid is empty, says so right here." I mean actual software technicians who are familiar with coding and hard drives and things like that.

I cant fully blame them given the amount of computer hardware in this car. And again, its different than 10 years ago when we started to have "computers" or "chips" helping out with different engine/car functions. This car has that, then it also has a full hard drive based "PC" installed. Completely different skillset IMHO. If I went to my dealer, whose service depart is insanely good by the way, and said yeah, I'm having this issue with my CF car, the folder nesting structure doesn't work like they say its supposed to. First answer would be (blank stare). Second answer would be "Huh?"

Again, not blaming the dealers for the most part. I'm guessing they will be waiting for Infiniti to release software fixes for things like this.

Wink Voice Tags

Sorry to see that this is still knocking around. I will repost since this update is still valid. I had the AVC replaced by the dealer about a month ago, because of the lost voice tags, and to date everything is ok.

You're right when you state that they aren't equipped to change computer parts, only to remove and replace complete units. I was the first computerectomey that they had on the G and it took the better part of the day. They didn't want to give the car back to me without testing. I hope that I didn't just jinx myself.

Thanks for the update Alan. Glad to hear that the fix is still holding up.

i just lost my voice tags a couple of days ago. i only regularly call two numbers on my cell phone, so only recorded those two voice tags so it's not too annoying to re-record them but i couldn't figure out where in the screen that was located. I have to talk to the dealer about a couple of other problems i'm having. i'll bring this up as one of them when I get to those things.

For anyone keeping a talley, I lost mine for the first time about a week ago. They had lasted about 10 weeks before vanishing. I re-recorded them and emailed the dealer to report it. I'm assuming Infiniti will come out some some type of update/patch for the system. I just hope that it's not the type of upgrade that wipes out everything on the on-board hard drive.

Just lost mine a few days ago after over a month of everything working ok. I did NOTHING differently than usual (ie sit in car, press start button and go)

I have experienced the same thing. I told the dealer but they give me the same bull.. (ie first we've heard of it, are you sure...) Infiniti seems a bit reluctant to acknowledge these sorts of problems...
