I got the G 35 because the car that I had ordered
Was not due for another 2 or 3 months (Audi S5) and I had to turn in my S4 (that car, dear friends is another story).
So in need of another car I went to the G35xS. I found that it had many of the features I wanted in a car.
I found there were two areas of disappointment, first, was the lack of a leather interior, the second is the all wheel drive. The Audi all wheel drive system works well under all conditions to keep giving the driver confidence that you cannot lose control (with the exception of the laws of physics). The Infiniti all wheel drive system does not do that. This may be due to the tires that are too narrow for the car (245 40 vs 225 50) and the bias of the Infiniti system more to the rear than the Audi, but I am not an engineer.
There are other things (only 5 forward speeds vs 6 speed automatic), but overall the Infiniti is a good car that needs (in my opinion) additional refinement. I am enjoying the ownership experience and would consider another one, even though it sounds quite the opposite.

Oh, and congrats on your new X .

My daughters inherited my 1996 Maxima GLE. I put a quarter of a million miles on it. Great car. I've worked hard over the last ten years and thought I deserved an upgrade but I could not bring myself to go away from a Nissan product. I now own an 08 Journey Garnet Ember/Wheat with premium.

Hello all, just picked up a 2007 white G35S w/ NAV 2 weeks ago. This forum is an awesome resource. Anyway back to the topic at hand: I upgraded from a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. HUGE difference from an SUV to this, however it's sorta sad I'm getting about the same gas mileage. (I got around 19-22mpg w/ mods on the Jeep) I get around 20-23mpg on the highway in the G (no mods yet). Of course I think my foot is heavier in the G.

^Lack of leather interior? Are you sure you've looked at the seats because I'm pretty sure all G's come with leather standard.
I'd agree that the AWD in the G is rear biased - the Infiniti engineers wanted to give the benefits of rear wheel drive handling, but if needed the car can shift power forwards to prevent slippage. On the other hand - Audi's start as FWD and then add an AWD from there. The quattro system is superb tho. But Infiniti wasn't shooting for a FULL AWD system, more of a RWD with AWD ability.
The S5 is GORGEOUS though, I think Audi has the best overall styling of any upscale automaker (my dad has an A6).
Oh - and I came from a '00 BMW 528i. Brilliant car, even with 150,000 miles. I miss it sometimes
The only negative of the G35 is the lack of automatic wipers, but it's a minute thing.

Came from a moderately modified 200 Subaru Forester XT - car was a blast to drive, but was loud as all get out, and after commuting an average of 3 hours per day, the noise and (I hate to admit it) gear shifting were causing me much discomfort.
As soon as I finish break in (500 more miles, and an oil change to confirm), I hope to see how my 08 G35XS compares to my 13 second flat forester...
Upgrade in amenities, comfort and ride quality, downgrade in power, performance, sound quality and useable space...

Gee35x sorry it took so long to respond, been out of town, holidays, etc.
I really enjoyed the Audi's. Espically my S4, but that is another story. The G 35 xS had many features and options that I wanted. I lease for business reasons and the S4 had to be turned in. So I went to Infiniti, I had been there a year earlier to get a G for my wife, but they were not "dealing" as agressively as I hoped.
I wanted all wheel drive (I live in the Mid-Atlantic) because we get some snow and I felt it would make me feel more secure.
I really like the car. Thanks
