What BS!

OK. I finally got my R&T and read the review.
I don't think the review is BS. I think Infiniti is BS for saddling the G35 with horrible gear ratios which not only hinders acceleration, but also gives you bad gas mileage - the worst of both worlds.
Whereas the TL and IS350's transmissions hit 61-62 mph in 2nd gear and 90 mph in 3rd gear, the G35's transmission hits 69 mph in 2nd and 98 mph in 3rd! These overly tall 2nd and 3rd gear ratios hinders acceleration in the most useful range (0-100 mph).
If you look at the R&T review, when you reach 120, the G35 starts to pull away from the IS350. Thus, clearly the Infiniti's motor makes enough power to run w/ the IS, but is just paired with a poorly selected set of gears.
Now, the worst aspect of this? I can accept slower acceleration due to taller gearing if it get good gas mileage, but, as we all know, the G35 has the worst gas mileage - either rated or actually observed - out of these 3 cars. How could this be if it has tall gear ratios? Well, it's because 6th gear is VERY SHORT! The G35 turns 2400 RPM in 6th gear whereas the IS350 and the TL are at 1900 and 2050 RPM. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever because the G35 has a speed limiter which limits the top speed to 155 mph in 5th and 6th gear. In light of this, there's absolutely no reason to put such a short 6th gear on the car. They should have put a really tall 6th gear so that the motor isn't revving so high at 60 mph. I think it's fair to say few people cruise at 60 mph on the freeway - more like 70 more or less. Thus the G35 is probably turning close to 3000 RPM when you're just cruising on the freeway whereas the TL and IS are just loafing along.
