I agree Mike. I guess if you are an existing G35 owner you really notice all of the differences between the 1st and 2nd gen.......which are both abundant and significant. If you have not owned a G35 before, the differences are probably more subtle and I can see how people could mistake a 2nd gen from a 1st gen.
