These fees can be tricky, because a dealer will advertise "all cars $100 over invoice" or something like that then add on a $500 doc fee and a $300 ad fee (which in some cases is more legit). Suddenly you're not so close to invoice anymore. Toyota dealer near me does this.
As long as you focus on out-the-door I suppose no harm is done. What I'd get upset by is negotiating a price, then having one of these fees added to that price.
