So I decided not to get a '07 G35

I have enjoyed lurking and reading about everyone's experiences and cars for sometime now. After test driving the '07 model, I was impressed but didn't think it would suit me several years down the line. I went with a '07 Lexus GS350 instead. I guess I'm feeling old since I preferred the slightly more plush ride of the Lexus.

I couldn't stay away from the forums for months on end, but will probably visit less now.

Take care of those nice cars!

Good for you! I'm sure you will be happy w/ the GS350. I test drove one before deciding on the G35. The Lexus certainly feels more "luxurious", and to be honest it was a little more than I wanted to pay.

I ain't mad at ya'. I'm between the '07 G and an '06 GS300. I would def prefer the stronger engine of the '07 GS350 but my ponies aren't making it down the stretch. It's out of my reach.
Enjoy your car, you're not old, your...sustained!

Hope you like the GS350, but two quick questions: did you consider the Infiniti M35? And if so, why did you choose the GS350 over it? Not trying to start any Infiniti vs. Lexus debates, I'm just very curious.

Congrats!

Quick question: Considering the fact that you went with a GS, did you look at the M? That would have been a better comparison.

I was considering the GS350 before switching to the G....the GS was just too heavy and felt like a brick to me...even with the new engine.

You'll love the car. A friend of mine just got one as well and her husband and daughter loved the car.

Thanks for all the comments.

I did consider the M35 and if it came down to the M and the previous GS300, I would've probably gotten the Infiniti. Once Lexus updated the engine in the GS350 (303hp/277tq), I was swayed towards the Lexus. Plus the EPA ratings of 21/29 didn't hurt versus the 18/25 of the current M.
I'm sure if I waited a couple years and the M updates to a newer engine with a 6 or 7 speed transmission, I would lean back towards Infiniti. I wanted a car this year and after test driving the G35, M35, and GS350 back to back, I really liked the interior and fit/finish of the Lexus.

The GS350 engine is very nice, pulls hard from 20-60+ mph but there is the slightest hesitation from standstill. The G35 feels faster (and is), with the acceleration snapping your head back from standstill which is not a bad thing, but I felt my driving still was better suited with the Lexus since I do alot of highway cruising and don't want that head snapping feeling of the G35 with my 19 month old in the back.

I was so sure I was going to get the '07 G35 sedan a few months ago too.

As far as the GS350 being too heavy, I think it actually makes for a more refined ride but definitely more isolated versus the G35....which suits my highway crusing. There is about a 200lb difference between the GS350 and G35 rwd models (3704 versus 3508 for the G35). It weighs the same as the awd G35.

Here is a quick shot a few days after I took delivery. Has tint/clear bra.
So I decided not to get a '07 G35-gs350-2-resized.jpg

Man that GS looks sweet. Congrats to you and hope that you enjoy it for a long time to come.

So I assume that you just got the GS to hold you over till the next Gen-M comes out......
